Adjusting frame counter on M6

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Hi,

the used M6 I bought automatically resets the frame counter to number 29 (or more exactly 28½) when I open the camera. Is there anything I can do to make it go to "-2" instead?

Thanks, Peter.

Time for a repair by a qualified technician I would say. I doubt you can do anything to solve this problem without opening the camera. Opening a Leica M requires special tools, a Leica tech will have these tools.

Perhaps you can contact Hans Pahlen, he's also from Sweden. He might know a good address for Leica repairs. Hans Pahlen

I think there was a whole batch of M6 with defective frame counters. If I remember correctly it would have to do with Leica putting some plastic gears in the frame counter mechanism. I think they replace the whole mechanism on these defective models when they get them in their repair centers.

Thank you Bert and Xavier, I will keep my hands off the internal parts, I promise!
