Please help; is using a 35 mm Summilux on a Leica CL going to do any damage? it seems to mount and work fine. Any input would be much appreciated thanks Steve

Leica says you may have trouble with viewfinder obstruction especially with the hood attached. It will not cause any damage.

Steve, do you have an old or new version?

I have an old (non-asph) 35mm Summilux that I modified to use on my CLE. You have to remove a protective ring from the rear of the lens. It doesn't harm the lens (the ring can be easily put back on), but you have to be careful not to scratch the rear element if you set the lens down. Steven Gandy mentions this on his site.

It now works perfectly on my CLE.

I have used this combination and it works fine. Only trouble is you have to use the whole finder, not the proscribed framelines. The old generation Summilux is great at smaller apertures, but a tad soft wide open, I found.
