Today, November 13, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- saints whose souls are now in heaven:

St. Frances Xavier Cabrini ["Mother Cabrini"] (Italian, foundress of Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, founded 67 schools, hospitals, orphanages in Europe and Americas, d. 1917 [first U.S. citizen canonized (1946)])
St. Abbo of Fleury (French, Benedictine abbot, teacher, writer (on astronomy, grammar, philosophy, mathematics, canon law, theology, biography, etc.), ambassador to Vatican, martyred by stabbing in 1004)
St. Brice (French, orphan, bishop, d. 444)
St. Didacus of Alcala [Diego] (Spanish, hermit, Franciscan brother, missionary, d. 1463)
St. Gredifael (Welsh, abbot, 7th century)
St. Homobonus of Cremona [Omobono] (Italian, tailor, married layman, supporter of the poor, d. 1197)
Pope St. Nicholas I "the Great" (Roman, elected to papacy as a deacon in 858, died 867)
St. Stanislaus Kostka (Polish, nobleman, Jesuit novice, died 1568 at age 17)
Sts. Antoninus, Zebinas, Germanus, and Ennatha (three men [beheaded] and a virgin [burned alive] martyred in 297)
Sts. Arcadius, Paschasius, Probus, Eutychian, and Paulillus (Spanish, martyred in Africa in 437)
St. Caillin of Ferns (Irish, bishop, 7th century)
St. Columba of Cornwall (English, virgin, martyred)
St. Dalmatius of Rodez (French, bishop, d. 580)
St. Devinicus of Caithness [Denick] (Scottish, bishop, 6th century)
St. Eugenius of Toledo (Spanish, bishop, d. 657)
St. Gredifael of Wales (French or Welsh, abbot, 7th century)
St. Kilian of Aubigny (Irish, missionary in France, 7th century)
Bl. Mark of Scala (Italian, Benedictine abbot, c. 1280)
St. Maxellendis of Caudry (French, virgin, martyred [stabbed] by her betrothed c. 670)
St. Mitrius of Aix [Mitre] (Greek, slave, martyred by beheading 314)
St. Narbonne (priest, martyr)
St. Nicholas Tavelic, Adeodatus Aribert, Stephen of Cueno, and Peter of Siardus (Norbertines, d. 1230)
St. Quintain of Rodez (African, bishop in France, c. 527)
