Canon EOS 1n vs 3

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

Hey, Just wanted to hear opinions b/w the Canon EOS 1n and 3. Which do you like better and why? They are nearly the same price used now and the 1n is still slightly higher at BHphotovideo.

sorry for those who read photo.net too, I know I posted this over the weekend.

I went with the EOS 3 and I have used both, but why would you pay so much for older technology as the 1n has. The EOS 3 eye control does work it has mulit spot metering, fel flash and is a very nice camera, to me it's a no brainer

It depends of what type of photographer you are: If you are a professional who needs his camera in all kind of weather (sand, heat, rain) than go for the EOS 1n, if you are doing photography as a hobby you will be much happier with the EOS 3 because it's newer technic for nearly same price. The 3 model has the better and faster autofocus and E-TTL flash controll. For the 1n you need minimum 2.8 lenses to get maximum out of the autofocus sensors, for the 3 you can use cheeper and not so fast lenses to get the same or even better focusing speed. (Sorry for my bad english....)

Come on the EOS 3 is a all weather camera. That's crock, I have used mine in rain, wind blown sand and all, there is nothing wrong with a EOS 3. It is a pro camera. My mate alao uses a EOS 3 and a 1n and uses them on boats in any condition. The 3 always comes out before the 1n

Hmmm,

I was just asking for opinions about the 2? I am not in the market but I was just curious to see what people thought about the new 3 against the long time 1n. (I know the 1V is above both).

I know it is advertised that the EOS 3 is just as well sealed as the 1n.

Personally, I have used both and ended up selling my EOS 3. I kept my 1n and bought another one second hand. To me, the 1n fit better and I didn't find the particular 45 pts that useful (nor the ECF accurate enough to use normally).

So I was just wondering what others thought. I am aware of the differences. From what I see, the EOS 3 is being used more for fast moving nature and sports while the 1n is still being better liked for photojournalism. The EOS 3 is also vastly popular with people upgrading but not as much so as people who had the 1n. So just wondering what people's experience were (more detail than photographyreview.com).
