I'm OPTIMISTIC

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

An early post of optimism this week before the pessimism can start. We will beat Fulham. Ciara feels sick to the stomach dreading a five goal defeat. Andy Thompson will score a goal for the Sydney "Toon Army" team instead of tekking me that he had 5 cleared off the line.

Just for good measure everyone who wants something good to happen this week will get what they want.

Ciara please confirm the sickly feeling ;0)

The last time anyone was optimistic, we got tonked by Spurs.

-- Anonymous, November 13, 2001

Not true, someone was optimistic against Villa and we tonked them.

I was optimistic against Spurs and Villa - the deciding factor in both was that Ciara thought we'd "do" Spurs and had a bad feeling about Villa. Blame Ciara!!

As soon as I miss one in London, we'll win it. Unforch, I'm going to Fulham and possibly Charlton. Sorry.

Mea Culpa. The 'pool & Spurs results were my fault - I didn't wear my hat. But in mitigation I have to claim that they were on at 6.00 am here & were shown on a cable channel that I have to go & watch at my neighbours'. It is a thing of beauty - big honkin' top hat with Yin & Yang motif in black & white - I'll be wearing it Saturday morning! The streak is over!

Bad news re Charlton...my early feelings are that we'll beat them.

-- Anonymous, November 13, 2001

Well, Andy didn't score for the Sydney Toon Army.

He didnt even have any cleared off the line either come to think of it ... we will draw at Fulham nae doubt about it. Saha is almost guaranteed to score , in fact I dunno why Im sat here , Im off down the bookies now .

Hey you two, yes you Roger wants to know A) if you miss him in goals, (as often as the other side does) and B) what the scores have been

Oh woe, woe a thousand times whoa. Stop it. This verges on deliberate mental persecution. I cannot stand it.

State categorically that we'll win, then, categorically, we lose.

State categorically that we'll lose and it's still in the lap of the gods.

All we need now to kill off any hope we might have of a result against Fulham, even just a draw, is for one of the players to say as much. That's the most potent hex of all.

The gist of this thread definitely does not augur well. :-((

Cheers Gus, i guess he'll still be paying me for the Fulham ticket he asked me to get for him then? luckily I knew he'd be unreliable so I had a standby ready....

-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001

We'll manage a draw, but will deserve to win. Typically Saha will score, as will Goma...maybe 2s a piece

I thought the #1 rule of this BBS was we could no longer mention the name F****r and rumours of him playing for the toon on here....
