Stevie Charlton

Those grotesque fat lads who live down to the Southern stereotype of Geordies have taken over from our previous media icon Stevie Charlton. He's the cadaverous old fella that Sky always used to pick out in the Gallowgate/East stand corner. I am pleased to report that he is alive and well and sat next to me on the Metro tonight. He tells me that he is 80, used to work in The Royal Station Hotel at Liverpool Street, reckons Bellamy is terrific, Supermac is his favourite ever player, he once scored 7 goals in a game in the Sunday League and the Parkinsons in his right arm is giving him merry Hell.

Hope I have such good sight and hearing at his age, I was the one who had trouble hearing as he's a bit quiet.

I also got a pay rise today. Which was nice.

I remember the FAC game away to Spurs in 85, we stopped at a service station and about 50 of us put Stevie in goal in front of one of the massive advertising boards and played footy with a 99pence "special" ball. Good day except that tw*t Gough diving for the pen.

Congrats on your pay rise - wish I could have one.

Well done Bonnie Lad. Don't let Nic spend it all at once. Nice to hear about SC.
