The times they are a-changing...........

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Well, not actually times - but the dates are. Having a number of articles on icNewcastle last week dated as September, they've gone too far now with today's "predictions" being dated 11th December. Only 2 weeks left to Christmas! Sadly, no news of the team that played against Fulham, Ipswich and the rest.

Screacher, I noticed this a couple of days ago. It seems they've managed to reverse the date format so 8thg Nov reported as 11th Aug - 9th as 11th Sept. Today's the 12th so they're probably all dated 11th December.

Looks like it's just reverted to the US format of Month Day Year.

Hmm - I notice there aren't any updates today. Do you think it's struggling to work out what the 13th Month is?

-- Anonymous, November 13, 2001

In some Pacific island they actually have 13 months in their years, somthing to do with not having 4 seasons to set their year by, being too close to the equator to have much difference in sun height, and something to do with the lunar cycle of 28 dyas fitting mroe closely into a rough calendar year of ~364 days.

Anyone remember where I'm on about ??

Mac, I'm struggling to think what you're on, never mind what you're on about.

A pedant writes:

There are many diferent calendars. For example the Chinese have 6 60 day cycles a year. The Mayan's had 18 20 day periods (plus 5 extra days for partying) a year and the Aztec's something similar. The French Revolutionary calendar was also different (though I can't remeber how), as is the Islamic calendar.

Pilgrim - have you had a flush yet? Or just a reload? icNewcastle works OK for me with 13th November date.

Nick - I think the French Revolutionary calendar was different 'cos it was round, not flat like the ones we stick on the wall.
