minivadr scores

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

I've been looking at minivadr recordings and it looks like it is not clear what should score be for this game. some reported number of points = number of rounds cleared and other = last round played. I think it should be like this if you cleared 8 rounds you get 8 points. First recording is only confirmed and it was confitmed wrong LordGaz cleared only 6 rounds but he has 8 points other all reported 7 points and here's what they did game guru cleared 7 a.d.sakuragi cleared 7 also QRS , virtualgaz, timmykins all cleared 6 rounds

Thanks for bringing this point up, lord gaz actually does clear all 8 levels and completes the game, as confirmed, but you're right about the three people reporting 7 but really only cleared 6 levels. should all be fixed now, can you try Lord Gazes again to see if he clears all 8? are you sure you're using a mame37b10 version?

another pretty good feat lord gaz did (in addition to completing all 8 levels) was get 4 out of the 7 saucers that fly by, and it's mame36b15 that you'll need to playback lord gaz's game.

Actually i didnt try it with 36b15 because i dont have it , and it is not available for download at mame.net. I tryed it with 36rc1 closest thing i had . And for cheating i didnt notice that , since im new i really dont know how to spot cheating.

Erm sorry, you didnt say nothing about cheating .

yeah nothing that looked like cheating here. But to mention you can get the mame version with the "Get Mame" link near each recording. sometimes it doesnt work but usually with older versions it's the best way to get the older mame to play the game back.

Okay i downloaded file, but it only has exe file nothing else so now it wont run without audiow(something).dll file . Thats why i dont like trying mame32 recordings and it will probably make a mess of my registry when i start new then old then new mame again :(

Go here for that file - http://marp.retrogames.com/diffs.htm It's under the MAME32 section, usually people need it.

I agree with you about the mame32 playing backs, it's a nightmare and sometimes it's even worse than a nightmare when the registry keys must be cleaned before the recording will playback because the later version of mame32 left the registry keys in an incorrect state that the old mame32 will assume is right.... incidentally i didn't even use the mame32 version to play his recording back i used the dos version m3615 and it worked. sometimes the windos recordings playback in dos mode but not always.
