Today, November 11, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- saints whose souls are now in heaven:

St. Martin of Tours (Pannonian [Hungarian], cavalry officer, hermit, bishop in France, d. 397 [first non-martyr honored as a saint by whole Church])
St. Bartholomew of Rossano (Italian, Basilian abbot, hymn writer, d. 1065)
St. Menas (Egyptian, soldier, hermit, tortured and martyred by beheading c. 295)
Bl. Agnes of Bavaria (Bavarian, noblewoman, Poor Clare nun, d. 1532)
Bl. Alradus of Isenhagen (German, knight, Cistercian brother, c. 1250)
St. Athenodorus (Mesopotamian [Iraqi], martyred c. 304)
Bl. Bartholomew of Marmoûtier (French, Benedictine abbot, archbishop, d. 1067)
St. Bertuin of Malonne (Anglo-Saxon, Benedictine monk, bishop in France, c. 698)
St. Cynfran (Welsh, 5th century)
St. Mennas of Santomena (from Asia Minor [Turkey], hermit in Italy, 6th century)
St. Rhedius [Rhediw] (Welsh)
St. Theodore the Studite (Constantinopolitan, abbot, champion of Church's religious independence of civil power, defender of legitimacy of sacred images, monastic reformer, d. 826)
Sts. Valentine, Felician, and Victorinus (Italian, martyred c. 304)
St. Veranus of Lyons (French, bishop, 5th century)

If you have anything to share about these holy people, please reply now -- biographical episodes, prayers through their intercession, the fact that one is your patron saint -- whatever moves you. If you are interested in one of these saints and want to find out more about him/her, please ask. Information is sometimes available on the Internet.

All you holy men and women, saints of God, pray for us.
God bless you.
John
