Vcd copying trouble wth nero

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have a apex ad-500w and have tried to burn vcd's with no luck. I tried at the slowest speed I can 4x. I am selecting the vcd tab in nero and doing everything I've read but the cd seems to hang in the player and never plays. Thanks

Make sure you have VCD compliance checking turned on in Nero. If you're burning non-compliant video, you may have problems. I have a couple of Apex players myself, but not your model. Apex typically supports VCD/SVCD very well, but I have read about some models sold under the Apex name that had very poor support for CD-R/RW discs. You might go to www.vcdhelp.com and check the DVD Player Compatibility List for your DVD player to see if there are any problems with it. Also, try playing the VCD on your PC. If it fails to play it's a good indication something you're doing is not working.

Also try and make sure that your machine will take that type of media. I have a SOny and it will only recognize CD-RWs or CD-rs but they have to be silver

Hey, i have apex ad-500w as well and yes cd-r and cdrw's will hang in the system. There is nothing wrong with Nero, but the player itself isnt fully compatible with cd-r's and such. I tested this theory by putting my vcd's i made with Nero (the same ones that WONT play on the apex) into my portable dvd player that i own and it plays it perfectly! no problems at all. So the problem is the compatibility...dont listen to the manual, it wont support cd-r's... your better off buying blank dvd's and writing to them. A bit more expensive than cd-r's but oh well...its either that or buy a new dvd player that WILL support it.
