MPEG2 to MPEG1 converting

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have just received a DVD (MPEG2) with information taped from a Betacam. I would like to add some of the clips to my website and the data is too large.

a. What software can I use to convert from MPEG2 to MPEG1.

If I can get it down to MPEG1, I can then use Windows Movie maker to edit the clips I need.

Your advice would be appreciated.

Regards, Donovan.

TMPGenc (www.tmpgenc.com) is free (at least right now it is) and can do this conversion. There are various guides on converting DVD to VCD at places like www.digital-digest.com, www.doom9.net, and www.vcdhelp.com. Most of these procedures use TMPGenc for conversion, so you could probably look at one of the guides and figure out how to do what you want.
