I have heard oldtimers talk about persimmon pudding, but I wouldn't have a clue how to make it:o)

I posted my recipe for persimmon pudding on the CS forum. Probably under 'persimmons'. It's packed otherwise I'd post it here. It's delicious.

We used them mainly in muffins. They are good raw IF they are VERY ripe(soft to the touch).

No recipe, but a short funny. When my brother and sister were little, riding on the planter with my dad, brother jumped off and got himself a persimmon (not quite ripe). Because he is who he is, he offered to get one for my sister, who said sure - brother accidentally got her a ripe one! She said it sure was good, didn't he want to get her another?

I make persimmon bread. Just use your favorite banana bread recipe and omit bananas and add two persimmons smashed. It's very good make all I can and freeze the rest. I either make the bread and freeze or just smash two persimmons and put in freezer bags so you have just the right amount

You can also put the whole persimmons in the freezer for later use.

Thank You all. What I have is bunches of wild ones. Any good ideas for easily getting the pulp?

A Foley food mill is the easiest. A colanter and a potato masher works. Freeze the pulp in one cup amounts. I love the smell of fresh persimmons. Lay a sheet or large pieces of plastic to cach the pesimmons as they fall, I still prefer picking them out of the grass.

So when do I get some of this persimmon pudding you have got me hungry for, Mom
