Colo. Post Offices Shut Down

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Gov. Bill Owens ordered two post offices closed Saturday until officials can be sure an employee's illness was not caused by anthrax.

A 41-year-old worker at the Fort Collins branch post office was hospitalized Tuesday with pneumonia but is improving, said Cindy Parmenter, spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

The post office where he worked and a second that receives mail from that facility were ordered closed.

The governor said he acted after conferring with 20 doctors around the country who unanimously recommended the closings.

Some 200 postal employees were advised to take antibiotics until the man's anthrax test results are available.

State tests were inconclusive, and blood and lung fluid were sent to the CDC in Atlanta for further tests. Copyright © 2001, The Associated Press

Your welcome Meemur. It looks like more and more states are having the same problem with anthrax. I have been leaving my mail in the box for three days or so before I get it, with gloves or my hands or in plastic bags. I throw away all the junk mail and all the envelopes to the bills in the trash barrel, before I bring the bills into the house. Maybe a little paranoid but, feel safer doing it that way.

Spoiled? Nah. My vet told me chicken protein is THE best for cats, even those with kidney problems (because they use quite a bit more of the protein than they do in other meats).

Now how did that get there? I swear I posted it on the cat thread. Am I losing it?

I am laughing so much! Your not the only one that has done that before. I feel better now knowing I'm not the only one.

OG, some days the threads all blend in together, and before I do something like that, I'll finish cooking my chicken breast (the cat gets TUNA!!) and log out for the evening. It's been a L-O-N-G day.
