oh geez, not another one . . .

Yep, afraid so. This time I did some significant playing around in PhotoShop to make the image look the way I wanted. When I was initially taking the shot, the powerpack I was using didn't have enough juice to let me overexpose the shot the way I wanted to, so I did some dodging/burning/cloning to clean up some things and adjusting curves to put the tones where they should have been. Since I had already gone that far, I figured some selective levels adjustments and fine tuning of color balance and saturation wouldn't hurt. By then, I was sliding down that slope at a fairly rapid rate, so I hit it with a film grain filter, too. Too much?

[Unfortunately, jpeg compression muddied things up a bit--the original file is noticeably better looking.]

You sure do have a way with portraits, as well as with other areas. I think the composition of this one is very strong, and you've well portrayed her beauty. She looks kind of worried about something, doesn't she? Or thinking off into the distance. I can take or leave the added grain effect. I'm sure not distracted by it, so that must mean it combines well within the gestalt of the photograph. I'm not sure what to think about the saturated orangish hue. I like it in her hair, but not in her face so much. Impressive photograph.

What I like about this is that she looks more like a doll than a real person. Also, it has that "Dixon look" to it.

Thanks for the comments. The skin tones in the TIFF are much creamier, less orange--I agree it's a negative. I used the film grain filter to smooth out some of the texture of her skin (which is what I usually use overexposure to do).

She had a lot on her mind. I'm glad I was able to get some of it on film.

If we'd had some, we would have smoked it, but we didn't . . . : (

Very stunning. Kind of reminds me of an old Blind Faith album cover.

it's a striking image, lovely to look at. if i hadn't been told, i would have said this was a painting;watercolor, most likely. doesn't look anything like a traditional photograph; but i suppose that's the point, isn't it?
