Yes, Frances Sargent Osgood was a poet. Of course that information was given by Edgar Allen Poe's poem "Valentine". However, I still don't know why the poem holds that title.

Frances Sargent Osgood. The answer to Edgar Allan Poe's poem " A Valentine." I do not know why this person was the name encoded, besides the fact that they were family friends. But i do have a very interesting theory. Maybe Poe was in love with this women, and in this poem was trying to profess his love for her. Now this may not be true but it is only my theory and opinion. The title might also mean that Poe wanted her to be his valentine, or love, in life and death.
