Divorce and second marriage

If I am married to a man through city hall only, after we get divorced can he remarry with someone else in church? We didn't marry in church and we are both Roman Catholics.

All right, Laurent. You have gone much too far.
I am the third Catholic in the past week who is telling you to stop answering questions here. Please confine yourself to asking questions. You often do not have correct answers for people -- or you have incomplete answers -- and this can result in questioners being misled by you. If you continue to answer questions (as you just did, above), I don't think that I will be the only one asking the Monitor to delete your replies.

Dear Malajka,
In the situation you describe, the man cannot marry someone else in a Catholic ceremony unless/until he has received a Declaration of Nullity -- a formal statement from the Church court stating that you and he were never united in a valid marriage. If he is now trying to deceive the Church and get married without first going through the required "nullity process," you should contact his pastor immediately and explain what is happening.

God bless you.
John
