Some little friendly up near the Arctic Circle

Well, this should at least keep Soops happy:

England squad: Martyn, Wright, Walker; Keown, Ferdinand, Mills, Powell, Carragher, G Neville, P Neville, Southgate, Ehiogu; Beckham, Scholes, Butt, Murphy, Gerrard, Sinclair, Lampard, Anderton; Heskey, Owen, Fowler, Phillips, Sheringham, Smith.

Hmmmmm - six strikers. He probably has a better chance of playing in goal ;-)

ABBA Perchance? Soopah Doopah..................

I think they're going to be allowed up to 11 subs in the game, so he could still miss out

Lampard? come on

No complaints from me - I think Sewpa does deserve his chance, it can't be easy playing with that bunch of cloggers every week. One player whose inclusion does bug me mind is Frank Lumpolard; without doubt the most over-rated piece of blubber in the Premier. I do have a little smile to myself every time I see him labouring in Chelsea's midfield. Ten Mill well wasted MrBates.

Great minds Swift....

I thought the reserves must be playing when I saw the thread title.

lets play ..... SK scores on Saturdy and looks good, his club continue to struggle, generally asking him to play on his own up front, occasionally assisted by a slowing Niall Quinn, he continues to score the odd goal, but is fighting a battle on his own, same club hovers in 6th bottom position for the whole winter, SK starts to feel his once in a lifetime chance of a World Cup place is being compromised by his club status, local rival to his club are pushing for Champions League place need an end of season spur and offer £10m for him, would Reid accept Boro's bid ?

-- Anonymous, November 05, 2001

Reidy would probably hold out for £30m and end up settling for about £5m

If nothing else it shows how threatened your 'massive club' feeels by our 'tiny club'.A favourite word of Newcastle fans is ambition. Is the limit of yours seeing Phillips leaving Sunderland.I mean I never want to see Marcilino leave Newcastle...........HO HO HO

even in exchange for Kilbane or Varga ??

Only if you throw in Bassedas or any other of your magnificent purchases. How about Fumaca.

-- Anonymous, November 06, 2001

We never bought Fumaca: we signed him for 6 months.

-- Anonymous, November 06, 2001

The immortal 'Formica' was a non-contract player who was on trial at SJP, superkev - no fee involved, only Mick Wadsworth's highly suspect judgement!

;o{)

superkev, looking at your squad the resale value is about 35-40mil at present (at a price of 27mil to you). Phillips is set at 10mil of that. You've been promised 2 record signings by Reid (only 4.5mil to beat for Thome) so he either has to cash in on Phillips to pay for it or actually take a chance and sign the players to get you into Europe for a modest 10mil and either succeed or sell Phillips after not making it. This sitting around with his thumb up his bum and his mind in neutral is the bit that doesn't make sense, surely? Phillips will leave if you don't improve and you don't look like improving without new players. It's time to either sh*t or get off the pot isn't it?

What a lovely picture you paint. It maybe time but what you and others have to realise is that we have picked up approx 25000 new 'fans' from somewhere and their expectations are higher than mine and other roker regulars.Unrealistic is a word I would use. These 'fans' thought that when we were in 2nd place at the turn of the year that we were NOT in a false position. You know the ones,no -show at the cup games.

Most PL clubs have them SK, we have more than enough of them.

Unfortunately, they serve their purpose to add cash to the funds.

I knew a couple of them who got their season tickets a couple of years ago then got rid of them last season. Thought they knew all there was to know about NUFC. They didn't have a good word to say about ANYONE. Shearer's past it, Cort is crap, Dyer's bollocks, Given is sh*t. Ask them why any of these players are crap, "because they, erm, are" Complete morons these "fans" are, they are the sort who boo and jeer individual players and think this is how people show their support.

Liverpool fans (to use a Keegan classic) have went down in my estimation since last season. OK they won five trophies, (although whether the Charity Shield and Euro Super Cup are classed as trophies is another thing) but the constant, "we're better than yoooouuuuuu!" bickering between them and Manure fans is becoming irritating. Letters pages in newspapers, teletext, phone ins, they all have bloody glory hunters trying to prove they are the best because either a) they won a match last week, or b) they won the league three seasons in a row

It would be absolutely brilliant if both Liverpool and Manchester United won ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Throw Spurs onto that list of non-winners (ie LOSERS) as well :)

And West Ham for good measure

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2001

Oh go on, Leeds United as well ...
