Authorities Resolve Rental Van Alert

BOSTON -- The FBI has located a Ryder rental van that was turned away from a Cambridge mall Friday night, sparking a statewide alert.

Federal investigators say the van was not involved in any terrorist activity. Boston FBI spokeswoman Gail Marcinkiewicz says the driver was found and interviewed yesterday, and the issue resolved.

Marcinkiewicz says the driver was working for a "national waste disposal company." The FBI had issued an alert to Massachusetts law enforcement to look out for the van, which tried to enter the mall parking garage.

Security guards had said the van sped off when they refused it entry because of its tinted windows. They also said it was loaded with several large container drums and gasoline cans. (AP)
