greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

I'm trying to do some "housekeeping" this evening. I have been VERY BAD about checking the email for this forum. I would slap my hands, but somehow that doesn't seem likely to be too effective [snicker].

Anyway, I am sending off the password to several previous members who fell through the cracks back when we passworded. Most of them had computer crashes or other annoying problems. They are:

Wildman (Jack) [jdenterprises@centurytel.net] (he posted recently, I thought he was all set, but now I'm not sure so I'm sending him the password)

Karen Mauk [dairygoatmama@hotmail.com] This name should be familiar from CS, at least to most of you

Laurie in NC [jimpick@rtmc.net]

I've had a request from Alison in N.S. (Nova Scotia) to join us. I think she'd be a good addition, based on her posts at CS and elsewhere. I'd like to know if anyone can vouch for her from personal contact. I'd also like to know what you all think, especially if anyone has reasons why she shouldn't join us.

Also had a request from (yet another) "Jack" atl.jack@excite.com His only previous post is here Any thoughts?

Probably would be best if all comments, favorable or unfavorable were just sent to me directly. I can tell you what the results are, and then I don't have to worry about deleting anything from the forum!

Does anyone know what happened to Craig Miller? I haven't seen a post from him anywhere for a long time!

Answers

I saw a post from Craig Miller on some LUSENET forum in the last month or so. btw, whatever happened to our originator for this forum?

-- Anonymous, November 04, 2001

Just don't let that bin jr. in!

-- Anonymous, November 04, 2001

I second that, Dee!

-- Anonymous, November 04, 2001

I see Craig on another board I go to regularly so I'm sure he'll stop in now and then.

I recall there was a little hoopla about mitch hearn before we went password but he seems to be a positive presence on CS and Country Families and has something to offer.

Also ernest from the ozarks. He's consistantly respectful and I like his posts.

And what about Bernice Raymond---gemini goats

-- Anonymous, November 04, 2001

I say leave mitch where he is. If John from S. Indiana was objected to when he was such a peace maker on CS, I sure wouldn't want mitch here.

I don't know what your statement means, diane? Could you fill us in please? Privately, if you would prefer....I'm snoopy....

-- Anonymous, November 05, 2001

EM, I am not sure what your question is. I would gladly answer if I knew what you were asking. :>)

-- Anonymous, November 05, 2001

Ok, lets see.........who is Jack from S Indiana, and how was he a peacemaker? What do you mean, he was objected to? ( I may have brain fog again..) And what is his relationship to Mitch Hearn?

-- Anonymous, November 05, 2001

O.k......yes, I think you are brain fogging :>) John (not Jack) from S. Indiana was someone who was very active at CS and participated here before Jim went on sabatical and passworded this forum. His computer was crashing on a regular basis and didn't ask for the password right away and when his name was put up apparently someone objected to him so he was not given the password. John and I didn't always agree on issues, but became friends on line because we were both RN's and got really annoyed at how nasty some people were getting on the forums. I didn't know he had been omitted until I asked Joy when responding to this thread. To the best of my knowledge he has nothing to do with Mitch. My reason for putting them in the same post was because I though at the time Mitch was much more of an agitator than John would even think of being. John left CS at the same time Hoot did and, although I didn't agree with John about Hoot, I still think he would have been an addition to this forum. I think it all happened at about the same time Sharon got all tiffed because some of us wondered how Don Armstrong got given the password without input (Jim had done it when Don asked) Actually I thought maybe John was just lurking like Don but was not sure so I asked Joy. Does that answer your question??? :>) Sorry Joy......guess once again I should ask you to do some deleting??? It is up to you. I have no problem with ANYONE reading what I have written.

-- Anonymous, November 05, 2001

Yeah, there were a few objections to John in S. Indiana .. . . . Since I'm the only gate keeper, my criteria is against anyone who makes several members uncomfortable.

Diane, I don't know if you meant it this way, but I think each individual should be judged on their own merits (or lack thereof), not on how they compare to someone else.

-- Anonymous, November 05, 2001

I guess Joy I don't understand what "judging" individual "merits" would mean. I personally like a lot of diversity of opinions if it doesn't get personal. Agitators are not fun to me and I thought we were looking at not having agitators, not opinions that we didn't agree with. That is why I made the "comparison". I have no desire to judge anyone's merits; or opinions for that matter. I lurk or participate on all sorts of boards as the mood strikes me. peace??

I don't know if this is the place to post this, but Hoot has posted over at Freedom that he has cancer (I also heard from someone that it's colon) Bummer. Hoot's kind of like old family (my family was pretty weird, though, maybe! We had a lot of different folks.) He liked to prosyletize, big-time, but he was kind of like that goofy old uncle that showed up for holiday dinner around your house. He always had good stories. I'm praying for his healing. just fyi.

-- Anonymous, November 05, 2001

Oh no, I'm really sorry to hear that. I always thought he was kind and had neat stories.

ANOTHER REQUEST TO JOIN THE FORUM:

Terri Perry, who posted once on the forum back in June. She has been offline for some months, had a lot going on personally, is what she tells me. The name sounds familiar, but frankly, I don't remember much about her. In a way that's good, because I also don't remember anything bad! :-) Here is a link to her one post on BTS: link

Same deal, let me know if anyone objects to her joining us. Polly says she vouches for her, in case you want to ask someone for more information . . . .

link's not working for me, Joy

-- Anonymous, November 13, 2001

You're right! Dang it, I had trouble finding it in the first place and then I didn't copy it correctly. Well, it wasn't much of anything. It was that thread Sherri started about does anyone name their car, something like "Just a silly question" in case anyone else can find it!

-- Anonymous, November 13, 2001

The name sounds familiar...does she use "epona" as part of her email address or am I confusing her with someone else?

-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001

Epona is someone else. Terry usually posted with a tperry addy or something like that anyway. She posted on CS a lot back in the good old days.

-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001

Dang - make that stuperry@stargate.net This is not her current addy, but you can probably google that one and get some of her past posts. Check and make sure it's her name at the bottom, and not her now-ex-hubbys.

-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001

I just sent the password to Alison in Nova Scotia. Her email addy is: Aproteau@istar.ca

-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001

Oh cool, she should be a fun addition!!!

-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001

I'm here! Let the bells ring out and the banners fly...Iiii'mmm heeere. Oh gawrsh I feel special to have been included. Thanks all! (I am sitting here in Nova Scotia, in my pjs, with a big goofy grin on my face at the happy feeling of welcomed.)

-- Anonymous, November 15, 2001

Well Alison with the big goofy grin......WELCOME!!!! Glad to see you here and hope you have fun. :>)

-- Anonymous, November 15, 2001

Bout time you got here, Alison!

(By the way, I like your name.......its also my daughter's) :)

-- Anonymous, November 15, 2001

Oh btw, Terri looks like a fine addition to me too

-- Anonymous, November 15, 2001

Ah, there you are, Alison. Welcome aboard! Sometime, please do a thread about Nova Scotia? What it looks like, the weather, the towns etc. If you've lived elsewhere, how it compares, etc. I've always wanted to go up and see it, but haven't accomplished that yet!

-- Anonymous, November 15, 2001

Not a problem. We are actually a lot like Maine from what I understand.

-- Anonymous, November 15, 2001

Any verdict on Terri yet? Just wondering!

-- Anonymous, November 21, 2001

Polly, as far as I'm concerned, bring her on, I think I can take her! I don't know anything about her but it doesn't matter. It's kinda like the Supreme Court Justices, what they've done in the past isn't necessarily indicative of what they'll do in the future. I think most people will conform to the tone of the majority. Hey, if she gets out of hand, we'll cyber slap her into submission! Ya'll put up with me so it shows that ya'll are a fairly tolerant group.

That's just me thinking, I've been wrong before, but, Joy please don't change the password, I'm just about to get it memorized!

Wildman (looking for new blood)

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

Just sent Terri the password, Polly.

Thanks!
