Option #1 - extract the MPEG-1 file from the .dat file using the VCD Toolkit (do a web search to find it). Demux the MPEG-1 file and re-encode the video to a lower bit rate, then remux and burn. You will lose a lot of quality this way. Option #2 - burn the VCD using something like Nero that will let you overburn. You might be able to burn a 825 MB file to an 80 minute CD-R if you overburn. You can definitely burn this size to a 90 or 99 minute CD-R. You can't compress the .dat file without re-encoding the video stream to a lower bit rate, which will result in poorer quality video. Your best option is to try to overburn onto an 80 minute CD-R or buy some 90 or 99 minute CD-Rs and hope your burner will burn to them. Most will, but there are no guarantees. The 90 minute CD-Rs cause fewer problems than the 99 minute CD-Rs.

In response to your question on how to compress your 3 VCDs to fit in one CD. Though off topic (from VCD), you can use Ashampoo Movie Shrink and Burn. This will save your videos in DivX format. With this program, you select the output file size. You can check it out at:

http://www.ashampoo.com/

However you will not be able to watch them on your VCD player (as you will have changed format and video specifications. You will also need to download a DivX decoder - I recommend 3ivX available from:
