ATI's new 7.1 Multimedia center

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

the new (June) multimedia center7.1 has lost the video editor. Does anyone have any thoughts/ ideas/ hacks? I mistakenly downloaded the upgrade, they don't warn you you are losing the video editor on the upgrade. The new software ran faster than the old, but I really don't like it. Video editor is essential So I have to RE-do windows from scratch(I had problems with a backup-job) Well it only goes to prove the old saying "if it aint broke. don't fix it" do not upgrade Multimedia center

I'm curious as to where you got that "June" dated MMC 7.1 The only version 7.1 that I know of is March. There is a 7.2 but currently it's not yet available at their web site.

If your problem is only with the ATI MMC and you have the latest ATI video drivers, you can simply go to the Add/Remove programs utility in control panel and remove the installed MMC. Then just re-install the original. The only time you want to do a full removal (via manually deleting files and registry edits) is if you are trying to change the ATI video "drivers". Just doing the MMC change shouldn't be a problem.

If you are running Win2K however after reinstalling the MMC, you should re-install the Via 4 in 1 drivers (if you have a Via chip set main board) and also Windows Service Pack 2.

Well thanks for your response. I said "June" because thats what I recalled from the website info. I could be wrong. From what I recall in control panel, it installed all new different drivers. You have to uninstall your old stuff before you install the "upgrade"7.1 To get the old one back one again I think you have to do alot of work

So anyways... do you/does anyone like 7.1 MMC? Do you have other video editing software to compensate for its loss?
