Anyone planning to drive from London to Toon for the match, or even heading up Christmas Day? And do you have room for 1 wayward bbser in the car? Happy to split costs. :-)

Can't get any flights beyond London to arrive before ko, and it looks as though there's no bus or train service either. argh.

Alternative Planning.

Anyone know if motorway services are open on Christmas Day? Or some contact info to find out? I may just rent a car and drive myself, but will never make the entire journey in one go between jetlag, never having driven a manual shift car, and never having driven on the 'wrong' side of the road. ;-)

Yes they are, but don't expect much joy away from the motorway. Go will fly you to NCL on Chrimbo eve for £40 from Stanstead, £50 to get back though.

When are you flying into london?

So far the only flight I can get arrives Christmas Day. :-(

Ciara, probably driving up Friday 28th, late(ish), back Sunday 30th early. Sorry if this isn't much help. If I get a pass I might try to drive up and back on Christmas Eve, but it's highly unlikely. My wife will probably mutter something about Boxing Day with the kids (and her sister), so I'll be consumed by guilt and I won't go. Then on the day they'll totally ignore me and play with their toys. If I don't go up for the Boxing Day game there will be 2 spare season tickets going. I won't know for a week or two yet.

All you'd need to do then is drive in reverse to be on the right side of the car, drive on the wrong side of the road, perhaps pad the bodywork out a couple of feet by strapping your suitcases to the side, stick to a strict 55mph and it'll be just like being in the good ol' US of A.

LOL! Perleeze...do you know how incredibly painful it is to actually have to do the speed limit? I found out to my horror last weekend when I managed to get 150mi away from home and about 20 from my destination before realizing I'd left my wallet at home. No driver's licence, no insurance card, no credit cards, nuthin. And on the weekend the staties were all out to fill their monthly quotas. Very, very painful and long drive home that night. I'll never leave home without my license again! ;-)

Fortunately, I can avoid the joys of learning to drive manual(am also way too cheap to pay extortionate prices for an automatic) shift a little longer having finally confirmed flights directly into the Golden City via Philadelphia. See you all at the Strawbeery!
