Aye, I thought it was pretty smart...until I realised I'd be wearing something that said 'Sunderland' on it. shudder

Also, is there any better way to advertise one's net-geekiness than getting one of the .com ones? I dunno...perhaps we should make one ourselves. Easier identifier for those planning a blind date pre-game drink. Better than carnations and Razzle, eh Dan :-)

Far better (IMHO) if it had read "Fcuk The Mackems". Still good tho. Have you ordered yours yet??

PS. If you wore ths ine in Sunderland, they'd think it was a second due to the spelling mistake ;-)

Just so you know ..... the club are furious about these t-shirts being sold as it uses 'their' nufc four letters.

bit small minded of the club to get upset about it....if it was replica strips .com were selling then fair enough but it's a tee shirt that is only being offered to the sites readers for fucks sake...

Are the letters "NUFC" trademarked or protected by some other law? If so, we'd all better stop using them in all future correspondence. Probably the only thing to do would be to support another sports team who's abbreviation isn't protected. Like Newcastle United Tiddlywinks Club. Then we could take a leaf out of .COM's book and make another anagram..............

.... entirely in character, Macbeth - petty and small-minded. In industry this is called "the bike-shed syndrome", where bad management focus on 'mickey mouse' issues that they know they can personally impact, rather than directing the strategic development of the business.

Look at the big picture ffs, you dozy prats!

I'm being dumb again obviously, but how could the club complain about the t-shirts? If anything, French Connection might, but they're probably wise enough to see it as a compliment and free advertising.

-- Anonymous, November 02, 2001

At a guess I reckon the club could complain that the logo implies a connection with NUFC PLC and is directed at the same market as their own branded goods which also display NUFC on them. Therefore it damages their business

On the defensive side, .com can argue their own logo of nufc.com was established before the official .cock and has as much right to exist and compete as the PLC.

Next case please...

French Connection lost a case against someone using FCUK as a label (I think it was a web site in the States). Court ruled that they did not own the trademark fcuk as it was in common use well before they started using it.

As a founding member of Nobody Uses Furry Chairs, I object. Who is the New-cassel United? I'll sue them for false advertising. We have nothing to do with football! hmph
