Audio Pilfering?

Morpheus is really good and very user friendly but AudioGalaxy has much more to download if not quite such a slick client.

Wait until you try to remove it (Morpheus, that is). It's like superglue. Lots of messing about in the Windows registry with fingers crossed. Harder to shift than Marcellino. You have been warned.

Must give AudioGalaxy a go then...

Morpheus seems fairly harmless so I hadn't planned to remove it. It only runs when I tell it to and seems well behaved. I'm a regular registry hacker (you need to be to get stuff working on Win 2000!). What does it leave behind?

Geordie, eventually, nothing left behind. But if my memory is correct, it places itself in the start-up folder when you install it, so the first thing you have to do is remove it from there. Then it sends constant upgrade messages. For me it turned into a real pain, hence the removal warning.

ahh... maybe it's improved then as it gave me an option to launch on start up (delcined thank you!) when I installed it

kazaa.com

keep 'en coming lads'n'lasses I've just got a machine capable of downloading and CD writing at lightning speed.

Morpheus still has my vote... it seems to have most of the things I want to download right now.

Hi,

like the man says, keep the suggestions coming.

I mainly use Audiogalaxy as well, but it seems like the lawyers have got to it. More and more of the tracks are 'not hosted by audiogalaxy' for copyright reasons :/

The other one I use is 'Limewire', which is a gnutella network client. Slick interface, but takes a while to get going (it needs to search out other ppl sharing files, as it does not have a central file register in order to frustrate the lawyers).

Not sure about morpheus, as I have heard of the same probs re. persistent traces on yer computer - hearing of ppl's experiences with it would be good.

keep the sites coming - I've just got me CD writer :)

If anyone comes accross a macintosh version let me know Napster had a mac client but since its demise Im stuffed. I download at work cos weve a fast pipe and my pc's are ussually busy being servers.
