The Future...

Just imagine for a second if we swapped Sinclair for Solano.

Solano would be 28 and probably playing class for West Ham.

We on the other hand would have Trevor Sinclair, a 31 year old (yes THIRTY ONE YEAR OLD) ex England hopeful. SGE has already shown he wants younger players, why would he pick a man who RARELY plays well and is going on thirty?

The West Ham fans seem to be chuffed with the rumours, they would LOVE Solano to go to them, and a lot reckon Sinclair only raises his game playing the big clubs, as if he is trying to impress them.

Please, stay well away. I know he is English, but we really don't need him. He'll want more money than Nobby, he'll set up less goals, score less. OK so maybe he might defend better, so we let in 3 or 4 less than with Nobby. Would you rather have this or another 8/9 goals scored?

Just my opinion.

I don't know enough about sinclair to make a fair comment. Except that I'd rather take Solano any day. On his day Nobby is glorious, a real match winner. I think Bobby may be pissing him off though by making him play a different role in the team. What we need is a good supporting midfielder that will take up nobbys slack. Give him a free reign, if he's not performing sub him.

Somehow i doubt Nobby wud even consider West Ham- he dosent have any mental illness that we know of......cant see YBR wanting to waste wat little cash he has left when a central midfielder is upmost priority- a good cent midfielder wud improve Nobbys and Lolos contribution, thats the solution.

I'm not totally convinced in the merits of swapping Solano for Sinclair. But I'm more coninced we should sell him if we get a decent offer and invest (!) in a quality central midfielder. LKD can work the flanks (unless he bu99ers off to Leeds). Lua x2 can play there (even Griffin at a push with O'Brien/Hughes at RB). We have no alternatives in central MF which would make progress on what we have at present - something which most of us believe is not good enough. Sometimes sacrifices have to be made for the benefit of the team.

I was gutted when we sold Suddick to Blackpool and bought MacNamee and a couple of other "journeymen". Joe Harvey was no longer on my Christmas card list - until the following season when MacNamee and those two journeymen saved us from relegation. With limited resources, you make the best of what you've got or you do a "Del Boy" and trade. Nobby is probably one of our most saleable assets (for how long??). Would the team be better without him and a quality central midfielder in his place? IMHO, the answer is "yes". And I didn't mention his wanderlust as he "appears" to have no international future. That;'s the one worry I would have about a player like Emerton coming in in his place.

There is less than two years age difference between Sinclair and Solano, shouldn't really part of the argument

Sky Sports is running the news that Jaime McGlen has put in a transfer request rather that being shipped out on loan. My (hazy) memories of this lad were that he could be a decent midfielder. Of course with quality like Acuna & Speed and the departing Lee keeping him out of the picture he hasn't much future at SJP.

Jamie McClen has the odd decent game for the resorves - he was excellent against Leeds the other week. However I don't think he's Prem standard.

...... he's bloody useless.

Don't get me wrong, if we got someone better than Solano then I'd be all for it, I just don't think that Sinclair is better than Nobby. He is just as inconsistent and nowhere near as good on his day.

If we were for example swapping Nobby for Beckham then it would be a different story.

Only get rid of Solano IF we can get a better man in (or be sure that Dyer is going to be fit enough to play there week in week out - he should be less likely to get injured on the wings compared with centre midfield)
