More on the Sinclair stuff....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Just read the Chron (that bastion of fact and excellence in journalism) which suggests the rumours re swaps are not true. However I was pleased to see reports that BR is in the market for one or possibly two midfielders. Central midfielders hopefully.

A case of wait and see it seems...................... Obviously stuff going on between WHam and NUFC hence the rumour merchants having a field day.

I sincerley hope that the Chron is right this time, regardless of how well Sinclair looks to be playing to some people, Nobby sets up more goals, puts in more crosses, tackles more and scores more, basically he is better than "Trevor"

Surely he can get his job back on Thomas the Tank Engine if he isn't happy at West Ham?

Paul - on his day, Nobby is great. But he drifts out of games (sometimes weeks!) for too long. I'd rather see somebody who turns it on a bit more consistently.

Latest reports are suggesting the Toon are preparing a straight cash bid for Sinclair.

But does Sinclair turn it on consistently?

From the games I've seen he didn't add a lot. He played OK against us, but nothing special, had a good shot but Nobby can score a class goal and still have a bad game.

If you go by raw stats, Nobby tackles more, wins more tackles, scores more and creates more. Surely if Sinclair is meant to be a stronger midfield player then he would tackle more often, as well as win more of his tackles - Nobby has better stats for both.

As for goals, Nobby has scored the same amount this season as Sinclair has in his past four (correct me if I'm wrong).

I just think it would be a mistake.

Nobby tackles? sorry but that tickles my sense of humour...

I was trying to display the opta stats for Nobby/Sinclair on the Speed for Sinclair thread but make a complte arse of it and now the thread is unusable. The stats show Nobby way ahead of Sinclair in all but the tackling where Stinky has a slight advantage. Final Scores = Nobby 988, Stinky 725. I'm resting on a case.

And the references are Nobby< p>Stinka

Can anyone fix that other thread forruz please?</knakka>

Fixed it.

Aye that's right, I was looking at stats for the last few seasons combined. Apparently they were OPTA but they weren't off the opta site.

No point in getting him if he isn't as good.

We could say that Andy Griffin is is on his day great but too often inconsistent, but would you swap him for Burnt Haas?

Sorry, the point I was trying to make was that it's pointless swapping a player if the one you get isn't as good as the one you had.
