Could be worth a punt. Very talented young player comfortable in defence or midfield, great on the ball and a full England International. Perhaps we could swap 9 of our first team for him?

Villa have turned down his transfer request so I can't see him being let go....he'd cost a fortune and I also wonder why we'd want him....the reason Gregory apparently isn't playing him is that he doesn't think young Gareth fits very well into a 4-4-2....since that seems to be the only system we can play then we'd want to be careful about buying him :)))

Another reason cited for his being dropped is a lack of pace - something we don't exactly have an overabundance of at the back.
