So, would we miss Dermott Gallagher?

Er, yes, actually, he's not been bad to us in the League:

Key to colour coding:

  Chief of Referees in England
  Cowardly Homers
  Honorary Geordie
  Filthy mackems

Can't believe how favourable Winter has been to us, just shows that it's his antics rather than any bias that offends so many people. Worrying that Phillip Don (head of referees) has had such a down on us considering he was officiating during our glory days.

Steve Dunn will always be a Geordie for giving Peacock's goal despite 20 minutes of wailing and gnashing of teeth from the totally neutral Sky commentary team. His stats show an admirable leaning towrads the black and white cause.

Barber and Rennie are scum. Any other line of business whic prides itself on integrity would have carpeted the pair of them to account for anomalous figures like these.

I'm using the description of a Homer as the kind of ref who is scared to offend the Home team's fans and thus reads the game entirely in favour of the home team.

...as opposed to refs with a penchant for Duff beer and hamburgers. The Statto Crown is safe in your hands (in percentages terms over a season), Softie ;-)

or west hams performances with and without clever trevor!

macbeth, I included the first and last games to give folk an idea of the time scale on each ref since our performances varied over the period. My skills are sadly limited insofar as providing the matching average for NUFC over the same period except on an individual ref's basis. Basically, the earlier the period, the higher the average - home and away - as shown ad nauseam in the Sad Statto's Section.

I need to learn SQL :-(

Do you have Access, Softie? You can build a query then switch to SQL view to see the code. It helps for learning the basics.

I've got several books on it thanks ciara, it's just you need the advanced stuff to ask it to keep going back to the same source of information (i.e. all matches between certain dates which are actually specified in an earlier part of the same query) and it generally melts my brain. I'm going to have to stick to the simpler stuff, it's just that I've been asking some different questions to most stats sites I've seen so at least a lot of the answers are off the beaten trap: I mean, anyone can tell you the goals to games ratio for players, but minutes per goal, quality of defences scored against, regional variations on results....this is all new but totally useless information :-)
