It won't fit. Most manual focus lenses "for Canon" are for the older Canon FD mount (although there are rare exceptions). There are converters made to adapt it, but they are more money than they're worth and the quality would suffer. You would also loose Tv and P modes in addition to autofocus & focus indication. Besides that, manual focusing with a Rebel is not very easy since the viewfinder is dim and small.

If you really want a cheap manual focus tele-zoom lens for your Rebel, get one for an old Pentax M42 mount. At least the lenses, as well as the converters, are cheaper.

If your looking for a lens, I would try the Sigma/Quantaray 70-300mm f4-5.6 lens. Its not a professional lens, but for basic shooting its a nice allround lens for about $200 US.

Quantaray? Pentax? Manual focus? If you're looking for a cheap zoom, you might as well at least look at the budget EF Canons! The 75-300 III is $155 at www.bhphotovideo.com

The Canon EF 55-200 ($100), EF 75-300 ($155) and EF 100-300 ($260, non-L) are all cheap as dirt, why would you want to bother with anything else? With all the other non-Canon lenses you have to deal with incompatibility headaches and crappy focus motors that may or may not work with your Canon body. Get one of the budget Canon lenses and shoot with ease and confidence.

Just want to throw in my 2 cents, I have a version 5 quantary 70- 300mm f4-5.6 lens, I compared it to my friend's canon 75-300 mkIII lens, and the build quality of the quantary seems more solid. Its also fully compatable with my Elan 7e. Not to say canon is bad, just go out and see what lenses feel/look good with you.

for 75-300mm,i strongly recommend the tamron 70-300. it has macro 1:2 and a low dispersion lens.
