Oh Monday, how you taunt me so.

Monday. We carved our first pumpkin last night (we didn't have one last year because Halloween was house closing day). Very exciting.

Wow, I'm tired. Sima and I went to a wedding this weekend, and it was a pair of late nights (with the rehearsal dinner Friday preceeding the Saturday night wedding). Then I had to get up to watch friends finish the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday.

If I don't have more coffee I might fall out of this chair.

Good weekend. Many naps.

I'm hoping that maybe this weekend will be at least a little relaxing. Because the past two have been nonexistent.

We went to a wedding on Saturday night where the groom actually talked about Martin Luther King, Jr., in giving his toast to his bride. The groom is a white man from Jackson, Mississippi. The reception was at the Margaret Mitchell House. Robb Pitts, a candidate for mayor, tried to cop a feel when I shook his hand. Such is my life.

I had the damndest time finding a pumpkin yesterday! After going to two Publix-es and a Home Depot, I finally found one at Kroger.

Did Chris recoup his bachelor party money at the open bar?

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

No. I got there after dinner (I had to go to the arthritis foundation gala, which had really, really good food) and according to Liz, the food sucked. No one seemed to be really drunk, in fact.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

I'm hungry. But maybe I'm just thirsty. Either way, I brought my lunch and it's all I'm eating today at the ofice as I am PO' and this is a loooooong pay period.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

The food sucked? That is just SAD.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

It did NOT look or seem anything like a $60K wedding, that's for damn sure. The favors were these cheesy cd's that all the secretaries at the firm - who were NOT invited to the wedding - had to wrap in vellum. Not cool. Chris told his sec, Laura, that under no circumstances could she wrap those things.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

That guy just sounds like tack-central.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

Oh, he is. So sad, that man.

I forgot to wear my engagement ring today. It is sitting in the ring cleaner on the bathroom counter. I imagine it will be very sparkly when I get back home this evening.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

How often do you clean it?

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

Uh, every morning. I have a thing of cleaner, and I drop the ring in the cleaner before I get in the shower. That way it doesn't get all filmy from my shampoo and conditioner and lotion. I put it back on when I've finished putting all the hair stuff in my hair.

Because I'm a freak.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

I did that sort of thing for about six months, T. You ain't no freak.

Freaky is when you get busted by your fiance as you're admiring yourself and your pretty sparkly ring in the bathroom mirror.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

Seriously, the lighting in our bathroom is great for the sparkliness of my ring. That, and the lighing in my office.

Hey.

I'm back in Atlanta. Back at work. Blahdie, blah.

Hope y'all are doing well. T, thank you so much for everything. Your ice saved us after the service. About a jillion people came over and the Lowe house was full to bursting with food of every variety.

I wish y'all could have seen the service. It was really beautiful and funny and uplifting.

Probably won't be able to check in much today or for a while, but I wanted to thank y'all for the flowers. They were the prettiest ones we got. I have some funny stories about the whole flower shop debacle we experienced - stories my dad would no doubt find hilarious.

Oh Al, I'm glad. Good thing she put the exclamation point after "no carnations," or else they might now have been.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

Glad you're back, Al.

I hate Office Depot, y'all. They always overload their bags and now my middle finger is numb. If I don't get feeling back in ten minutes, I'll be pissed.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

Guess what I'm starting tonight? Just guess.

A 9 week weight training program through the gym. It's just for women and it's 3 days a week, and I'm excited.

It'll be like having a personal trainer, only free.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

Oh, mayn, why can't stupid Bally-owned Crunch do something like that?

Of course, seeing as I haven't been to the gym in a month, maybe they have.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

It's through the gym at work. I cancelled my stupid California Fitness membership.

Ballys owns Crunch?

I wish I still did tae-bo because Billy Blanks is coming to Columbus and he's doing one of those big arena work-out things.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

Bally owns Crunch as of a week or so ago, and if they try to change my contract with Crunch to one of the Bally-style, legally vague "loans," I will be pissed.

That's so great that you have a good gym through work.

Where would I have heard of Allison Moorer (the singer)?

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

She's Shelby Lynne's little sister! And she's a damn good singer. So, you probably heard of here here.

Mike, I had the strangest dream about you the other night.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

Really? What did I do?

I asked the Allison Moorer question because our Life section had her cd in the "Free Books" bin, so I picked it up. Because, as I had said, I had heard of her and whatnot.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

Is it "The Hardest Part?" Make sure to listen to it all the way through, in one setting. It will make you cry. It's about how her daddy shot her mother, and then himself.

Mike, it was too odd to tell.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

Oh, and by the way, go Redskins! Woooo!

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

That's the one!

Come on. You can't say it was too odd to tell and just leave me hanging like that!

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

And yeah, go Skins! If C is anything like most Redskins fans, it must be a lot calmer on Sunday nights when they win. (Like me with Maryland football and basketball).

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

Chris was THRILLED. And even though Maryland lost (he wore his little shirt and everything), they played a good game and it is now known to the nation that College Park has a damn fine team on its hands.

Mike, I'll never tell.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

That's just wrong!

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

Fine. We were at summer camp and you kept propositioning me, but not in an obvious way, but in the dream, I knew what you were up to. For some reason, it didn't matter that I had a fiance, but I kept saying, "Mike. Listen to me. You have a GIRLFRIEND. And she's really cute."

Like I said, it was an odd, odd dream.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

Mike, were you excited that Joe Pa got his record breaking win?

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but how much does OSU suck? An 18 point lead?!

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

I'm out, y'all. Junior League meeting.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

See, I never went to those kind of summer camps. Sadly. But I'm not That Guy anyway.

I was very happy for JoePa! And OSU may not suck, but your QB sure does.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

In my time of crisis y'all are celebrating the JoePa record breaking?

Evil.

I can only assume Coach Bryant was busy laughing it up with Bill Lowe after Auburn's ass-beating from Arkansas and didn't think about Penn State.

What a day. It's been shitty. Hope y'all are well. I'm going to bed.

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

A-Lo, I think the Bear was saying "Look, someone's gonna break my record this season. I'd rather have it be a class guy like JoePa than that dunderhead Bobby Bowden."

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

I'm going home too.

Is it wrong that I'm blowing off my first night of training? But I'm not even sure it's still going on as the gym girl never called me.

That's really bad, isn't it?

Mike & Al - we're all agreed that we're going to read each other's NaNoWriMo novels, right?

-- Anonymous, October 29, 2001

I just now went and read the NaNoWriMo site. Woo! Fired up.

H, I hereby grant you permission to skip tonight. Monday is no time for exercise.
