THE AGM in The Bamburgh Suite

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Is anyone going? If so how will you be voting for the retention of current senior management and this baffling Premium deal.

I shall throw a token rejection of sad dougie and accept everything else.

Can you get a pint at these do's?

I'll try and get there, have to vote against the dividend, immoral

I'd forgotten about the dividend, I'd like the option to invest the dividend in more shares, daft I know but rather that than wor lass buying more shite.

Again any rejection of the share option will only be a token one.

Any voting action of the minor shareholders is at best "token" Tony, neverthless imo it is important to register your opposition to certain management actions, and to make your point to them.

If you feel comfortable getting up to the microphone, I would encourage you to pre-lodge a question to be asked of the Board that enables you to make your point rather more forcably.

I too will be voting against the amoral dividend payments, as should all shareholders who have the best interests of NUFC at heart.

As for the new arrangements with NTL/Premium TV, insofar as I can tell from the information provided, I feel the proposed restructuring of the existing loan arrangements is in the best interests of the Club as it sidesteps the potential for future financial problems resulting from the £25mm convertible loan.

The real difficulty I have with the proposed Joint Venture arrangements is that Premium TV's involvement to date in the Toon's "media interests" appear to have been utterly fatuous - as evidenced by their totally pathetic handling of the official web- site.

So, the question in my mind is are these same people really best-placed to deliver maximum shareholder value from the Toon's overall media rights? We certainly haven't seen a shred of evidence so far to suggest this is the case, and that makes the proposed JV look like a cozy expedient that has been accepted as a 'quid pro quo' for getting out of the convertible loan agreement. This may be unfair on NTL, but you can only judge from the evidence of their performance to date.

Having spoken to both Premium and the club about their plans for the web site they seem to be pinning their hopes on the use of a tool called "Vignette". I can understand techies getting worked up about some fandy new language/tool but worryingly so were the club, clearly no concept that it doesn't matter what tools you use if you haven't got a clue about content.

Sadly I feel its effect would be like giving Alan Oliver a new pen and expecting the Chronicle to improve.

This BBS has an AGM?

Tyne Tee TV have Roger Tames as the sports gadgee. He is without question the biggest wank*r on the box. I think putting Roger in control of nufc.co.uk would be an improvement on the present pile of sh*te. Whoever is responsible for communications/marketing/public relations/fans good-will/the internet doesn't even know he/she is an arsehole.

its just that sort of attitude that makes her think everyone is against her and her club. She's not wrong :0)

A marketing brief about Vignette

Sounds like a cool application, but I'm afraid our lot suffer GIGO syndrome (Garbage In, Garbage Out). You still need someone who knows what they're doing overseeing what gets fed into this lovely new toy, in addition to operating it. I have Photoshop, but that doesn't mean I'm suddenly a 1-woman graphic arts genius.

Macbeth - you're in serious danger of defending the indefensible I'm afraid.

Judge the Club and it's representatives by their performance not what they tell you they are going to do.

The real problem here is that senior management do not believe public & fan relations is particularly important, and they play lip service to it.

When, or if, they ever come to realise the importance of this issue they will appoint people who are adequately qualified, and have sufficient clout within the organisation to actually achieve something.
