Eye cap for M6

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Does any one out there know where I can get a rubber eye cap for the back of my M6. I'm sick of whipping my glasses up to compose my photos. Thanks for any help. >>Viva La Leica<<

There used to be a rubber eyecup from a (long-out-of-production) German-made 50's-era movie camera (as my fading memory recalls) that perfectly fits the Leica M6. I bought four back in the late 80s when I bought my first M6. I posted this a while back in response to another question and Lutz Konermann (lutz@konermann.net) responded with the name of the camera. Unfortunately (since I already have a couple left) I didn't write down the name of the camera he referred to. Contact him.

Consider Stephen Gandy's little self-adhesive rings from his site www.cameraquest.com. I put one on my M4 and have since stopped further scratching of my eyeglasses...

Here are links to a two Leica-Users messages on the subject. I like the second solution :-)

The newer Leica M-6 eyepieces have a rubber gasket molded into it & is not sold seperately. The eyepiece sells for $75.00 & is easy w/the correct tool to replace.
