Wage burden

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

If Bobby has fallen out with Lee & barton, why not give them the "frees" they must cost a fortune in wages for bugger all work. I'm worried about the amount of mediocre players earning big money here, why persist with 'em.

I thought that if you give someone a free transfer without them asking for it you have to pay off their contract?

I think both players would easily be sold for around £1m combined, so it's a waste giving them frees. Maybe as a last resort, although if Rob Lee is fit he still has something to offer the club.

I wish I hadn't went to his testimonial though, stupid of the club giving him one if he hasn't done 10 years yet. Steve Howey did 11 or 12 (not sure, think it was 11) and got nowt.

Can't see the Chronicle slagging off the English players who hang around on big salaries though.

I know what you mean. I don't get the Chronicle, just read it occasionally if I'm round at my Nana's house, mainly tripe anyway.

They find it hard to praise any foreigners, they gave Robbie Elliott man of the match against Bolton whereas everyone else said he wasn't up to much. (Actually that was the Pink but it's the same thing)

I read the Chronicle once a while ago and was talking to my mate about some matter to do with Newcastle and he regurgitated the exact words of the Chronicle, passing them of as his own, as if people are afraid to form their own opinions.

They are down to the what I feel as unjustified booing of Marcelino for Rob Lee's testimonial game, with headlines such as Farcelino. Although they might seem funny at the time, it's hardly going to help the confidence of the bloke. That's not really helping the club one bit.

I remember reading reports in the Chronicle of matches and I'm sure I must have watched a different game they painted such a different picture, things like Rob Lee bossed midfield, when to me he sat back and defnded, preventing any offensive play. Things like this brainwash the less knowledgable fans.

I get slightly annoyed how Shearer is seen as God by too many fans. He can miss a seemingly easy chance b quite a margin yet the fans will chant his name and applaud his effort. But when Nobby Solano does it, he gets jeered, shouted at and called a useless tw*t. It's a case of double standards, and it's down to things like the Chronicle.

Paul. Agree with a lot you are saying , one of my pet hates as you have highlighted are the fans who quote from the journo`s or the pundits as if it is their opinion.

Buff you're only saying that cos Paul said it first

Paul, there was a chorus of the slightly sad "Alan Shearer...ooh aah" song at Goodison on Saturday and this bloke behind went mental, shouting, "wiat til he f.....g does something before you start singing about him". Have to agree. Also have to wonder what the effect on Nobby's morale, not to mention that of other great, reliable servants is that they can perform individual heroics and barely get a round of applause.

The thing that I hate is when people claim other peoples words as their own, as if they had thought of it first (c;

Personally I see the biggest freeloader as Marthalino, surely the club could arrange to surround him in spanish memoribilia (sp) to try and make him homesick; Rik could probably get hold of a few dozen donkeys wearing sombreros and Julio Iglesias cd's, me & a few English pals could get pissed, shout abuse and vomit in his front garden, leaving empty bottles of San Miguel littered around his Pergona.

I can picture him now "Ahhhhhhh Mallorca"

Decka Fazackerly is on the dole, I thought when he left Keegan's side the performances dipped, is there a way back to SJP for him?
