Playing off the front man...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

All of these boys claimed to be able to play off a big front man. Most of them yearned to "play in the hole" which would have relieved them of all that nasty tackling business and left them to get on with the job of ghosting through and scoring. It doesn't take a genius to pick out the three with scoring ratios worth dropping into their contract negotiations. If Mr Bellamy can learn to keep his mouth shut he will start really shining in this list.

p.s. Dyer is some 7 months older than Bellamy

Oh yes, it's all competitions since August 1993 except the Charity Shield which doesn't count because you need 2 sides to play a game of football.

Looks like the Welsh Whippet is well on his way to topping the bookings table as well

When compared to Dyer it really does stand out, 18 appearances, 8 goals, Dyer has two more goals but another 52 appearances.

I think we have made a lot more chances this season, mostly down to having two players with pace. Dyer was basically the only quick player we had, but now Robert and Bellamy are twin threats, the opposition can't take them both out.

Bellamy really looks like being the player most likely to fill the gap left when Beardsley left. From the stats it is blindingly obvious that Pedro was the man for the job and nobody comes close to being anywhere near to him (Bellamy hasn't been here long enough to really compare, but it's looking good so far)

Great stats by the way :)

Think I said it before but it's funny how Bellamy has changed from being my hate player to my favorite player in such short time.

Yes, I agree Sudden. Mr Robson does get some things right!

Bellamy can really counter with his blistering pace, Coventry must have been really shite.
