Around Home this Week

What has everyone been up to this week? I was sick for a few days, but am feeling better now. I worked at the library, taught pre-school,took Megan to a mind games event for gifted children, took girls to piano lessons, helped out at our community Fall Festival, cooked supper each night, did some shopping, cleaned my house really good on Thursday, planted daffodil bulbs, helped Cale sort out a big pile of lumber and cut up the bad boards and pieces for fire-wood. That is about it for here, besides laundry!!! Brady gets a new cast on Monday, so he is glad, and the kids first school report cards come out this coming Friday.

Wow! You have a lot of energy! I've been sick, also, but didn't get half that much done! I'm a real low energy person anyway. I read about all the stuff you do and I feel like a big ol' slug! We did have a very busy weekend, but we didn't get any work done. Friday afternoon we had bowling with our homeschool group. Friday evening was my daughter's party. Saturday morning we went to a harvest festival in Pepperbox, Delaware. We picked up straw on the way home and immediately left for an outdoor dinner at some friends. The men had a sort of barn raising while we women sat around the bonfire making sure the kids were safe (we gabbed a lot, too). This morning we went to church and then went out for Chinese food with my Mom. We came home and I went to sleep. I have broccoli-potato soup waiting for hubby when he gets home from evening services at church. I didn't go because my throat is on fire! We'll be on the go a lot this coming week if I am feeling well.

Jo~ Please post your recipe for the brocolli-potato soup. It sounds great. We are having soup for after church tonight too, only it is veggie beef. I fix garlic cheese biscuits to go with it, and they are yummy!

This week has gone fast. On top up daily chores I had to make a costume , cook for a party on Friday night, bible study, finished a christmas quilt, made soap, throw a harvest party for 38 people on Friday night, clean house, clean out chicken pen, and today I finished enlarging the chicken pen(for the 2nd time!!) and put up fence for the geese pen and I did set 6 corner post for the hog pen.I also fixed broccoli and cheese soup today with cheese bread sticks.I am really gald to have the extra hour today. I am looking at my list for next week and I think I need to go to bed and rest up!

Lets see, I did some packing, some more packing, and then I did even more packing! We start moving today to a small home, from an apartment. I will finally be able to hang clothes outside and have a small yard. Have a great week!

Take care!

I see there is two Jo's now. This week is applesauce making time,I got a new food mill to use, my other one looked really terrible, don't know if they go bad or not. I make small batches at a time and then freeze. So I can write while the apples are cooking. They smell great. It's grey today and we had a little rain. I'm so happy for you Judy, a new house! What fun. We just helped our daughter move this weekend. I just love decorating. There's web sites for decorating too. Our daughter place just has single pane windows,so I suggested getting plastic for them, you can hang in the inside or out. Even with my glass doors I used plastic last year,we thought the house was much warmer. Hard to believe it's almost Nov. We have had lots of wind,so a lot of the leaves are down. You can add them straight onto the garden. We cover with plastic and mix in next spring. We have raised beds, they make gardening so easy. When we first made the beds we filled the boxes 1/2 full of leaves and grass clippings and then added the dirt.We have the best garden, even the first year. We also have a compost pile. The apples are done now,so on to the next batch.
