Are we staying on this thread or the one above?????????????

I doubt I've got the stomach to listen to the whole thing. Get too nervous and have to go and do the garden or something.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Just stay on this one, it doesn't matter either way

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Afternoon all. Glad to see Bobby's reverted to 442!

HOOOOOOWAAAAAY THE LADS!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Web cast quality is rubbish - can hardly hear it.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Damn, that nobhead commentator is on Metro again.

Gazza on the bench, he can't do it to us again can he?

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Hope I haven't tempted fate but my web cast is fine!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

COME ON NEWCASTLE!!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Villa 0-1 Bolton!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Already? If we can beat Bolton then Evertons should be walkovers

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Starting to wish I never said that now, probably regret it later

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Allesandro Pistone at right back for Everton...

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Don't say it Paul...you know what we're like! ;O)

"TOON TOON..."

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Great save from Given - Gravesen's shot, Everton corner

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Pistone at right back? Let's hope Robert does the same to him what Overmars did when he played for us in the cup final!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Bellamy sounds lively, Weir and Unsworth aren't the fastest centre backs, I think that could be where our openings come from.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

The Judder Man always seems to play well against us though!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Spurs 0-1 Boro!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Yeah, but Boro are playing 4-4-2...

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Bellamy's effort is second to none, something we've needed up front for a long time...just need to improve his finishing now!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Pisone's being booed by the Newcastle fans, seems a little bit unfair.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Pistone's being booed by the Newcastle fans, seems a little bit unfair.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

How did you get the webcast? NUFC.co.uk seems to be down!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

I thought Pistone was shite while he was with us but never did anything to deserve booing?

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

I'm listening to it on the radio (Metro) in sunny Whitley Bay.

Haven't tried the webcast

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Villa 1-1 Bolton

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Evening all from Oz. Im having problems accessing the official site as well.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

NUFC.co.uk webcast is working ok for me, drops off for a second or two but nothing too bad.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Charlton 0-1 Liverpool

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Ugh I hate this I wish I was there.

BTW - see the Chron? Dyer feeling nervous about return and lacking confidence in his injury. Also talk of Brett Emerton again.

Everton sound quite lively. Have we had a meaningful foray into the area yet?

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Gravesen's pulling the strings in midfield, Acuna and Speed have hardly been in it.

We need to get it wide, we're a different side when we're 1-0 up.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Harlow 0 - 1 Bedford

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Shearer headded across goal from Solano's cross. We need to use our width more...

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

It's nervy stuff, Naysmith should have scored but Given "smothered" the ball.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

"Heeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyy Alan Shearer...........oooh aaah....."

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Wonkey spanish internet cafe causing me problems here. No webcast - forced to listen to Everton / Yahoo version due to windows media incompatability or something. Bloody thing just switched itself off, causing me to miss the first 10 mins. Is it as bad as we feared?

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Complete mistake from Xavier and Gerrard, they slipped into each other and Bellamy couldn't miss.

GET IN THERE YOU WHIPPET!!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Cottee on Sky says we are shite

'Dont know why the Newcastle fans are standing up as their side have done nothing'

Graveson dominant in midfiled. Now there is a big surprise

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

The Judder Man and Gerrard clattered each other leaving Bellamy to walk the ball into the net!

Judder Man knocked oot anarl!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Hopefully they have to sub Xavier and Gerrard off then they have only one sub left.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Yippedee doo dahh... Everyone is staring at the mad, shouting Ingles in the corner with a cigar... :)

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Try www.evertonfc.com for the webcast.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

What is it with 'north-west' keepers gifting us goals!

The Judder Man is off...

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Cottee is an Evertonian Cockney, take no notice of him. :)

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Cotee cannot beleive it

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Fulham 1-0 Southampton

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Bellamy has equalled his goals tally of last season.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Xavier always reminds me of a photographic negative!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

"...will you score a goal"

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Hell, the Metro commentator doesn't understand the offside rule.

It's so pathetic it's funny ...

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Cottee reporting Everton have dominated the game and are getting closer

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Speed needs to have a word as he's no use to us if he's banned!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

That Radzinski bloke is looking dangerous

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

stuart hall reporting on 5 live

unbiased my arse

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

just perhaps if we could offer some threat up fron he may look a tad less dangerous defending

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Shite, we are going to have to be careful, Everton have come close too many times to be comfortable.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Phew! Given saves ANOTHER one on one!

How many times has he done this now this season? I recall one again's Liverpool and another against Spurs.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

One way traffic me thinks

Are Everton controlling the midfield by any chance?

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Help, No webcast!!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Metro reckon the bloke was at least 4 yards offside so he shouldn't have had to save it.

We need to get Gravesen marked up, Acuna booked for a foul on him now, I can see us losing 4-1 (sorry)

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

HOWAY LADS...they're all over us!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Can it be any more certain that an equalizer is coming!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Our midfield are just not up to it. When Lee is our best at his age, there is something wrong.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Acuna isn't doing a job on Gravesen and now he's just been booked Gravesen will take the p*ss!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Graveson leading us a merry dance - he's hardly bloody Veron is he?

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

The only thing not inevitable about this is the score

Please see my earlier comments on a thread regarding our capabilities in midfield when things got tough

depressing

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Bobby needs to find a holding midfielder and quick. The only thing is I can't think who he can go for and what money he has to spend (if any).

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Limey

try www.evertonfc.com

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

He isn't Veron, but we kept the real Veron out of most of the game when we played Manure

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Makems 0-1 Arsenal!!!!!

'airy Nob End

Even the apostrophe is there

Acuna is sent off??

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Just heard Robert's name mentioned for the first time...didn't realise he was playing! ;O)

Charlton 0-2 Liverpool

I think Bassedas might be playing in the second half

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Four minutes stoppage time

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Toon Army coming over well on the web cast!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Ken, Rob Lee had a virus against Spurs and recovered from it, but he's got a back injury now apparently.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Solano puts in a "terrific cross"

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Anyone remember the days when we used to dominate and control games? Bliss...........

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

We're ending the first half with a good spell.

Corner now for us...

COME ON!!!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

This back injury thing sounds a bit suss to me but it could be me just being cynical...

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Paul you're obviously getting the radio signal quicker than my web cast. I'm about 60 seconds behind your posts.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

This guy on Metro is the worst commentator I've ever heard. He can even make it sound like we're not playing very well.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

We've finished the half quite strong. Sound's like Everton can't handle Robert and Solano and they're having problems defending in the box.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Half-time thank god.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Off to the fridge for another (must needed with this performance) beer....

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Afternoon gang. Just checking in to see what's happening, and am overjoyed to find us winning. However, it sounds as though we've been under a lot of pressure.
Radio NCL reckon we've defended well, but that our midfield has generally been "missing in action" - nowt new there then! Nevertheless.................

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

O'Brien and Dabizas are playing class, Robert and Solano have shown bits and pieces of goodness, midfield is MIA and I haven't heard Shearer's name yet.

We ended the first half well, if we can score again early in the second half then we might have a chance of winning, otherwise Everton are more likely to take the points.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Villa 3-1 Bolton!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Radio NCL reckon the Toon are very fortunate to be ahead, with Graveson running the game for Everton.

The Toon Army are signing the "heyey Shearer...." song as the 2nd half starts.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

2-0 to Liverpool away to Charlton

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Makems 1-1 Arse!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

The Everton fans must be wondering how they are 2-0 down.

I know the feeling.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

......... diving header from Shearer's cross for his 7th goal of the season. Amazing - now let's see something from Laurent Robert.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Everton score, David Weir

Damn :(

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Bollox!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Unchallenged header for Weir from a corner - how often have we seen that bloody scenario?

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

We're up against it now, we'll be lucky to get a draw

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Another corner - cleared by Shearer.

Gazza and 'Yin warming up.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

set peice balls up again

individual cock up no doubt

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

This could end up 4-4!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Bellamy's pace seems to be troubling Everton's defence, we need to get the ball to him more often

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

We need to "calm down"

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Toon Army are amazing, but the game seems way too open for us.

Superb tackle by Dabz defies Campbell in the box, but gives away a corner - Weir heads just over. Jeez.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Cottee said it was a great tackle by Dabs!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Spurs 1-1 Boro

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Sound's like a great game.....for the neutrals!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Cottee says its all Everton

Toon not in it

all said with a big grin on his face

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

The whole of the second half seems to be a huge brown trousers moment.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Commentator just summed it up...we're living dangerously!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Shola and Luax2 warming up.
Radzinski blasts over the bar from inside the 6 yd box. Robert not supporting Elliott enough according to commentator - that is where most of the problems seem to be coming from.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Spurs 2-1 Smogs

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

How about Lua Lua on for Robert?

We need to try to attack more as our centre backs can't survive the rest of the game without support from midfield

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Heya folks! 1-2 Weha!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Spurs 2 - 1 Boro

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

"NCL are not pressurising the Everton players enough. They're getting far too much time on the ball" - Radio NCL commentator.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Sudden...don't be too happy...we're playing poor and it could still go horribly wrong!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

"Shearer with two men on top of him"

Hmmm

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Sorry Wonkey =)

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

"Everton are concentrating on hitting corners to their big guys at the far post to take Shearer's heading ability at the near post out of the equation". Think anyone in b&w has noticed?

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

If 'Yin comes on we MUST bring on Distin to counter him.

Still all Everton: we just can't get hold of it and take the pressure off.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Sudden, I just can't relax till the final whistle blows and we've won...or if we're 5 up! ;O)

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

howay all... lads and laddesses.....

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Bellamy with a great chance, Gerrrrard saves it. Should have scored according to Metro

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

how goes the battle then?????

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Bellamy should have scored.

And Wiltord has just missed a pen for the Arse!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Take a few "r"'s out of that 'keepers' name.

Metro idiot now getting Solano and Hughes mixed up.

Ferguson on now. Hold on tight

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Arse miss a penalty at SOS

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Sorry, it was Viera who missed the pen.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Arsenal miss a pen :((

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Bellamy thro one on one again - flick from AS. Keeper saves - bugger.
'Yin coming on.
What seemed like 6 chances in the space of 30 seconds for Everton - finally a block from Hughes in the 6 yd box. Immense pressure.
Shearer booked for dissent!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

We have to bring Didtin on to counter Drunken!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

who's scored then????

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Shearer booked for being stupid...he should know better!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Free kick for Everton - Shearer marking 'Yin!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

sparxx, Bellamy got a goal after a mistake from Xavier and Gerrard

Solano scored at the start of the second, a diving header, and Weir got one back straight after that.

Everton dominated the first half though

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

yup... got it,...keep going anyway!!!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

That should have been another for us by the sounds of it

Given saves well from Drunken Duncan

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Who the hell is Yin?

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Does anyone else think that if we scored again we could get a few more?

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Shearer header straight to Gerrard.
Fantastic save by Given from 'Yin - tipped over the bar.
Shearer header over the bar.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Good chance for us, Robert and Bellamy linking well to set up Shearer but his headder was weak!

Drunken just had one saved brilliantly by Given...hold on lads and lasses!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

ta Paul... looks like we're still DOMINATING in midfield eh?

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Villa 3-2 Bolton

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

'Yin = Big Yin = Duncan Ferguson

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

At least I've heard Shearer's name being mentioned this half, he seemed fairly anonymous in the first.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

AHA

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Robert flattens Pistone - no further comment!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Fantastic save by Gerrard from Shearer.

Fat Lad warming up for Everton!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Shearer's effort saved by Gerrard

Damn

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Shearer should have had a hattrick!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

I've only been online for the 2nd half sparxx, but we've been under a lot of pressure - don't seem to be able to get any hold in m/f, as usual. However, we have created a few half chances.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Stevie Watson coming on now?

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Weir fouls Bellamy, free kick, haven't got a clue where it is

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Unsworth off

Gazza on

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Anyone else think Shearer is a great defender? He's done it for both club and country when needed!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Bellamy fouled by Weir. FK.
Robert takes it - Solano heads it tamely over the bar.

Gazza coming on!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Has anyone mentioned Gary Speed today??? He hasn't played well in any game yet this season!!!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Fat Lad on! Getting a good reception.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

How long is left?

It's almost 10 to 5 here, surely there can't be that long left

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

6 and a half minutes left according to Metro

Nail-biting stuff

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

well done!!!!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

SkySports are Psychic they flashed up 3 1 Newcastle a full minute before Accuna Scored.

3 points in the bag now even if we sound a bit fortunate

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Who would have thought 3-1 after the first half shenanigans?

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Bellamy left Pistone for dead - brilliantly picked out Robert at the far post, who instead of blasting it laid it on a plate for Acuna.

Fan-bloody-tastic - the great unpredictables!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Me mam is saying the Mackems have got a late winner

Watch this space

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Disallowed goal, the Mackem's goal was offside

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Evening all - I've been lurking (still hungover) Good result 3-1 and Arca has socred for Sunderland in the lsat minute only for it to be disallowed. Hillarious

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Ok to be happy now wonkey? =))

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

We are a fantastic side when the game is stretched and open

Lua Lua with a half chance - wide

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Luax2 on for Solano.
I haven't heard Speed's name once in commentary - is he actually playing?

This would be one hell of a victory in the circumstances.

Luax2 shot deflected post the post.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Happy is OK now !!!!!!! ;O)

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Agreed Clarky, Everton have been a good side recently, and to win at their place is some achievement

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Pictures on Sky Sports show Sunderland players mobbing ref Obviously good refereeing disallowed their last minute winner.

Why is the web cast a minute behind everything else???

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

figure it's lunchtime over lads... good for 3 points... see you all in the postings....HOWAY!!!!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

I've finally heard Speed's name in the 92nd minute. And again.

Now we're holding the ball and passing it around.

That's it 3-1 - absolutely bloody brilliant!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Full time, good result, good second half performance

I am chuffed with a 3-1 win, I was preparing myself for a defeat, but I'm dead happy about this.

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

MOTM Shay Given?

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

We are now 6th of the table... well don!!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Now that's what football is all about!

3 points at Everton is a GREAT result, especially considering our last 'performance'!

Let's hope Bobby sticks to 442 from now on!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Thanks for the company gang - another excellent away victory - and the mackems only drew, with a goal controversially ruled out in ET - tragic, just bloody tragic!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Well have to admit I was chicken and opted out of the second half, only running in to look at teletext.

Heard last 10 mins though. Hoooooooooooooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Acuna - sorry, for all I've said about you!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2001

Wonkey, I also hope we stick with 4-4-2, but this isn't the ideal match to show as an example.

We could easily have been 3-0 down at half time and the game would have been lost.

However, we got a bit of luck and happily took advantage of Everton's openness after they went behind.

Acuna keeps up his record of never scoring on the losing side for us.

We were 'lucky' according to radio reports from 5Live, 3 -1 is lucky?????????? Yeah right.

Well Lynda - they reckon we were lucky at Boro (4-1), lucky at Bolton (4-0) and now lucky at Everton (3-1).

Perhaps we're beginning to get the rub of the green that we haven't had for donkeys years.

Perhaps we are Clarky, but not at home.

Too true Clarky. We've never been a lucky team have we?

You know Paul - we've become something of a counter-attacking team with genuine pace up front. This has contributed significantly to our away victories.

Apart from last week, where we made some major tactical gaffs, our problem at home is likely to be how to break down teams who come to stop us playing through our wingers, as we lack real creativity in the middle of the park that would provide us with options.

Terrific win. Everton aren't a bad side this season. Puts us 6 although Chelsea are playing tomorrow.

Although we have had 2 bad results at home our away performances have made up for it.

We expect to maybe get a win at home to Tottenham and a draw or loss to Everton away. So as long as we keep up the good away performances Im happy with us getting the odd strange result.
