It's hot. See what you're missing for $120/year.

So...have you paid the $120, Roland? I just read their free stuff, but I've noticed that even Salon is trying to increase profits by tossing up articles with MORE INFORMATION available for a fee. It all reminds me of the teevee news, tossing out the teaser and "details at 11".

You're old enough to remember "film at 11:00". No, I wouldn't pay $120.00/year for any publication.

Salon is not trying to increase the profits. They are just trying to make some profits.

I'd agree about Salon. I think it was Buddy who posted not too long ago that they would be defunct if they didn't figure out a way to support resources. [Still doesn't mean I'm interested in paying to read their opinions.]

film at 11? Nope. I'm not old enough for that. Actually, since we're on CDT here, the news comes on at 10, but the "teasers" start coming about 8. The "details" are typically just as sketchy as the "teaser", so if we're in the mood, we watch and laugh about it, but most times we just ignore the teasers. I do the same with the teasers on Salon and Debka.

Liar, liar, "film at 11:00" (or 10:00) was the TV teaser used during Viet Nam. The battlefield film was flown back to the States every day in time for 11:00 News. Before video, before satellites, before CNN.

I'm CERTAINLY old enough to remember the Vietnam War, Roland. If they used the term film at 11 [or even 10], I was probably out enjoying life with my friends and didn't notice. Vietnam wasn't something I watched on TV so much at the time as something that affected me personally, as my boyfriend and other peers were over there.
