The "rhythm" question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Because of the service outtage here, I'm reposting this to give everyone a fair shake. The answer will be forthcoming after the weekend.

"What characteristic or quality or aspect (pick whichever you like) does the word "rhythm" have which makes it unique in the English lexicon?" In other words, "In what category is the word "rhythm" number one?"

It's kind of like 'Jeopardy' here. The category is "English Words." The answer is "rhythm." What is the question?

Im not sure what you are asking but "Rhythm" should be the name of my first daughter.

And to think people wonder why Catholics have such large families.

Before anyone writes to chastise me for the characterization of a particular religion, let me tell you I'm allowed to pick on this group. I'm a member. ;o)

Gary, did you read the answers posted at your previous post?

-- mitch hearn (moopups@citlink.net), October 27, 2001.

Yes, Mitch... and had any been correct, I'd not have reposted. The one or two syllable answer was interesting but not what I'm looking for here. Should I try to come up with a hint on this one?

Is the answer that the word rhythm uses none of the common vowels. Such as a,e,i,o,u?

Talk to you later

No need for clues Gary, I got this one cyphered. Rhythm is simply mhtyhr spelled backwards!! Yes, it has been a slow day, why do you ask.....

OK, it's almost nine PM CST so I'll post a hint. The 'Jeopardy' style question would be asked like, "What word is the most *soemthing* in the English language?" Good luck.

Mispelled, maybe? Like your "soemthing"?

-- Cathy N. (keeper8@attcanada.ca), October 27, 2001.

Cathy is the winner! The word "rhythm" is the most misspelled word in the English language.

And I was trying to make a joke! Actually, I was thinking of my little homeschool and how my own children have had trouble spelling that word.
