M3 Base Plate--New Old Stock Available?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Hello List Members

I was just curious if any one any where in the world carries "new" parts(sync plugs, base plates, doors, etc.) for the M3? I would be especially interested in finding a new/old stock baseplate for my M3. Maybe somebody like Reinhard Mueller in Canada has them? TIA. Just thinking out loud. Richard Minneapolis

I have seen a few new old stock "body parts" for the M3 show up on ebay from time to time. I am sure there are still a few base plates sitting in yellowed old boxes waiting for your camera, but you need a little luck to find them.

As far as I know they are still available new from Leica. The new ones do not have the engraving on the bottom. If you are looking for that then you will have to find NOS (new old stock). Kindermann Canada may have some on hand but they will want to do the restoration work rather than sell the rare parts on for someone else to profit on.

There is an excellent plus condition M3/M2 baseplate up for auction on ebay now. Click here

This seller generally sets a fairly hefty price for his reserve price so don't expect to get this particular baseplate for under US$100.
