Just a thought, but as we're looking for a defensive midfielder who can pass and tackle, and given that we're not exactly flush with cash, what about Paul Okon? I gather he's available having found himself out of favour at Boro, won't cost much and has a canny reputation (although I've not seen much of him myself).

He is basically Christian Bassedas from what I heard of him, so pointless buying another one. Seems to be injured more often than Bassedas though.

I haven't seen him myself though, so I can't really say I have an opinion on it.
