We are flying to So. CA during Thanksgiving week. We are able to fly for $860 round trip for the four of us. I have never flown to Orange County that cheaply.

However, that's from Saturday to Saturday. If we came back on Sunday, it would have been $400 more.

Personally, I feel that this is the best time to travel, go to professional games, large public gatherings, etc. Security is never going to be tighter and more visible.

Some airfares still suck. My mom is patiently waiting for them to go down some more so that she can afford plane tickets for my daughter and myself to fly from San Diego to Wyoming over Christmas.

I also feel that the sickos are not going to pull off a big disaster again. They are going to do what is happening now. Affect individuals randomly so we are all afraid.

Vicki, you have to play around with the dates. That's why we are coming back on a Saturday instead of Sunday.

I had originally found a fare that cheap on United, but didn't reserve it. When I went back the next day to do so, the fare had gone up to $1400! So I found the same price on American.

We usually fly Delta because my husband has the sky miles thing, but all their flights left at 8:30 am. Even if I didn't have kids, I'd never make it there on time.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's United's site that does this or it may be American, but they will give you the fares of other airlines included.

I just got back today. The planes were not full but there have been more people traveling recently. Be patient, be alert to who and what is around you, don't argue, and check what you carry on carefully. I thought I'd taken everything out that is now illegal but they found a nail clipper (without the nail file luckily) in my first aid pack. Also, take reading material and some things to entertain the kids while waiting. Checking in went fast and so I had some long waits but be prepared for delays.
