Leica M Lens Cap for 65mm Elmar, f2.8

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Does anyone know what size lens cap cover is needed for the 65mm Elmar f2.8? I have found Erwin Puts reproduction of the Leica Lens chart from Leica Magazine Italy (http://www.imx.nl/hotosite/leica/overview/listm.html). However, it doesn't include a listing for the 65mm Elmar which I purchased on eBay without a lens cap. Thank you, Lonny Matsuda

Here is a site with all the information you need. Read the article carefully as it possible that an early lens has been modified.

Hallo Lonny,

you must have purchased a wonderlens because a 65 mm 2.8 Elmar lens does not exist IMO.

I think, what you have might be a 65 mm VISOFLEX-lens and itīs widest aperture was 3.5. Should yours be a 2.8 you are a lucky man with a lens of the highest rarity!

I had a chrome one, f 3.5, made in Canada bought in the sixties. This lens came with a neat metal lenscap. I traded it in for an black (Wetzlar) 65 mm Elmar-V- lens about 1985. This one has a series 6- filtering, which makes it difficult to attach the lenscap which was made of simple plastic material. The outside diameter of the later lens is 55 mm. My lenscap vanished in some deep photobags and I could not find it right now to measure it exactly.

To use this lens on a VISOFLEX you need to attach it to the focusing mount Nr. 16464. Together with the proper adapter for M-lenses you can use it on your LEICA R or LEICAFLEX also.

Best wishes

Thank you Mr. Wolf. Yes, my mistake, it is a 3.5 chrome lens from Canada. I bought it with the 16464 adapter, so all I need now is a Visoflex II or III. And I'll still need to find a lens cap of the correct size.
