Bad news *Robert*

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Oh dear, copied and pasted from footietransfers amongst others In a national newspaper this morning too (not a red top) >>>>>>>>>

It was following the Toon Armys latest taste of home defeat that £10m French International Robert's surprise outburst has arrived, it is sure to set many tongues wagging as to his long term commitment to the Tyneside cause. Laurent Robert, who is understood to be struggling to settle in the Newcastle, is quoted as saying to a French reporter after Newcastle's 0-2 defeat at home to Tottenham on Sunday "The fans must realise, continuously booing us during a game is not a good thing for the players to hear, we must have support to help us raise our performance levels, not be jeered at if we aren't winning every home match by half time. English fans don't seem to understand football as others, say in Italy or Spain where fans put effort into supporting the team and encouraging them to victory. I'm angered already after 3 months of our treatment by the supporters." Such comments are sure to raise the eyebrows of various managers across Europe, believed to include Gerrard Houllier, David O'Leary and more prominently Roma Manager Fabio Capello and Bayern Munich boss Ottmar Hitzfeld who are all understood to be admirers of the flying left sided forward, who may find the temptation of playing in Europe for a big club, irresistible.

Answers

Surprised that websites and newspapers can't write in something approaching English.

Also seems to contradict what he said in the interview on his website !!

Anyone smell a Makem?

-- Anonymous, October 23, 2001

Kats, just done a trawl on Reuters of French newspapers: nothing. Asked on his website: nothing. This is bollox perpetrated by a Makem gearing himself up to lose Kevin Phillips.

Absolute rubbish. I can't believe anyone has gone to the trouble of making this up and putting it on here. Ward whoever you are - get a life mate.

read backwards, his email is:

so i reckon we can work out which gutter this creature crawled out of lads and lasses...

What a load of bollocks. Booing happens all over the world, from Sunderland to Manchester to Italy, it's got nothing to do with English football culture.

The bloke / lass who wrote this is obviously a prick.

Wardy - if you can tell me the national newspaper you copied and pasted this from I'll give you a million quid. Had you not said it was not a red top I might have accepted the dreadful punctuation and grammar but you put your foot in it there mate. Now just beggar off and play in the traffic. Can't you tell it's half term!!

This same story (obviously not in the same words) has appeared on nufc.com, with them claiming it's from some "tatty French paper"

Whether this is a news source or a messed up phrase that implies the French are into fish and chips is something I am yet to work out...

-- Anonymous, October 25, 2001

Paul, the say it's a planted story on NUFC.COM...

-- Anonymous, October 26, 2001

I know you'll all be stunned to here that the IP address of the person who posted the original on here is the same as the mackem who caused us lots of fun a few weeks ago. Not SK, or Roly or ML3 who join in an okay wind-up sort of way, but the one who was just abusive.

I suppose we should be thankful he has lifted his game to a subtlety level not seen before, or maybe it's just that he can't swear in French !
