tragic loss of puppy

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

My son had just bought a beautiful chocalate Lab a few days ago. We had it inside our house for a few days until we could complete it's pen. This morning we put it outside to do it's duty and a few short minutes later when we went to let it back in, we found it drowned in a 2 gallon plastic bucket. The bucket had only about a gallon of water in it, but wasnt wide enough for the puppy to raise it's head up after slipping in head first. Needless to say, our families day was ruined. I'm posting this so maybe someone else will divert a tragedy of this kind. Afterward I thought of how easily a small child could have had this accident also. Look around folks, accidents can happen where and how you'd never expect.

There's nothing I can say other than... I'm very sorry for you and your family. Accidents happen when we least expect them. Thank you for taking the time to warn others of a danger to pets and children.

I feel sick for you all and that wee Lab. You will feel devastated for a long time as I would. Thinking of you. Kiwikaren

Last year I heard of a mother who when mopping the floor and using one of those buckets left the room for just a couple of min to answer the phone and when she came back her toddler had drowned in the same way. I am only posting this so women with young children will note it is not only animals those buckets are a danger to. I am so sorry for your loss
