Cannot play recorded VCD on JVC VCD player model MXJ111V

I've recently bought JVC music system with VCD player (Model: MXJ111V). I am able to play all VCD original and recorded. I got my marriage reception tape (VHS tape) converted to VCD format from a local vendor but it does not play on my system. It plays in all other JVC systems but not my system. When I play this VCD the time counter shows moving but the screen is blank and there is no sound but I can see the tracks being read and the time slot being shown for reading the disc. Can anyone tell me why I am unable to play this VCD? I could play other VCD's from the same vendor earlier in the same system. What can be the problem? Can anyone describe me what is MPEG1 & MPEG2 and what technology is required for converting VHS tape to VCD formats?

I too have the same system. The problem could be VCD version. Please check with the vendor about the VCD version he used. If you closely observe, MXJ111V will not show the remaining time when the VCD is playing. It initially shows the total time and the running time. The clock is independent of the picture track, once you start playing, the clock also starts and continues until the VCD ends. MPEG1 & 2 are different video formats, The technology behind them is quite complex. But both of them follow some algorithm by which digital '1' and '0' are transformed into picture signals. VHS is analog, VCD is digital. The analog signals produced out of the VCR or VCP is converted into digital signals using A/D converter, these signals are written into a CD using a CD writer. Every disc has a zero sector which stores some important information. Any CD player will read this first, here comes the problem. If it finds anything incompatible, then the player fails to read the rest of the data.
