greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon FD : One Thread

Hi I have a chance to but a Canon F1 plus 50 mm f3.5 macro + 24 f2.8 + 35 f2 + 100 f2.8 + 135 f3.5. I have to buy the whole lot together. My qustion is what to keep and what to sell later as there two wides and two medium teles. I have to pay around $900 for the lot. Is the price all right. The lenses are in excellent condition. The F1 has s cracked focussing screen and the meter also may have problems. Cannot test the meter because there is no battery in the camera. Thanks in advance

I'd be worried about the focusing screen, but you can always find another. I'd keep the 50 Macro and both the 24 and the 35 (the 35 is a great lens), since there is a big difference between them. If you wanted to sell one, I'd choose between the 135 and the 100.

For current prices, check keh.com and completed auctions on ebay.com. One issue will be which version of the F-1 you have, the original F-1, the F-1n, or the "New" F-1 (sometimes called the F-1N with a capital "N"). Offhand, $900 doesn't sound too bad for that kit, if the meter works and you only need to replace a screen. Bear in mind that meter problems could result from the focusing screen problem.
