Tiatto to join Newcastle First Published: Oct 16, 2001 From World Soccer

Australian international Danny Tiatto is to join Newcastle United.

The left back will jon the Premiership club in a swap move that will see former England international Robert Lee rejoin Kevin Keegan at Manchester City.

Keegan is trying to take the first division club to promotion and wants to pair Lee with Algerian star Ali Benarbia to help protect his defence.

Keegan bought Lee - who put in a transfer request at Newcastle last week - from Charlton eight years ago and once bowed at the player's feet to hail him as the best midfielder in Britain at that time.

***************** Why do we want another left back?

Cause we went so long without left sided players, that we're making up for lost time? Maybe not.

that's right it's going to the new justification as to why we can't attack the leazes or Gallogate anymore, bit like one legged ducks, just round and round....

Exactly. Now we'll sell off Barton, Griffin will suffer his usual injuries, Dabs and O'Brien will get crocked, Nobby will be off with peru playing friendlies in New Zealand, Distin will do such a good job warming the bench that he won't get a game, leaving Hughes alone at centre-back and at right back we can play.......errrrmmmmmm.......

The way Robbie Elliott has played this season a left back wouldn't be such a bad signing. Mind you, I haven't seen Bernard play yet so that may be a premature judgement.
