Leica M in the studio (Denver area readers take note)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I know we have a few members?/readers? in the Denver area.

In today's (Mon. 10/15/01) Rocky Mountain News there is an informational graphic on page 20A depicting items families should have around the house in case of a large-scale emergency (bottled water, battery radio, extra prescriptions, etc.).

I created the graphic, and (back on topic) took all the studio pictures of the items with my M4-2 with 90TE and 35 'cron lenses (not owning any other camera system at the moment).

I mention this just to show that, while studio photography may not be the first genre we think of in connection with rangefinders, in this case the Leica did a great job and was very pleasant to work with. The focusing was quick, I could see the flash going off through the finder, and the 90 easily focused close enough to handle objects as small as batteries and pill bottles.

I will try to find a way to upload or link to a Web version of the graphic for those of you not in the Denver area or who got the regional edition, in which the graphic did not run.

I suppose that for readers of this list, a Leica body and one lens would be required on that list. Hmm, would that be my 50mm or my 35mm lens? And what about film, would that be Delta 400 or Provia? Darn, I've got to decide!

Congratulations, Andy. I´m sure you can do that and much more . . .

And, Dan, one thing is for sure: you would do better without any batteries at all. Choose an M3 body !

Cheers

Here is link to the Web version of the graphic. It's pretty low res, but does show lighting, etc.

Frankly these could have been shot with a digital and saved a lot of film.processing expense (another reason to hope for an digital M back/ body for this kind of assignment). But it was fun nonetheless. GRAPHIC HERE
