I was dozing this morning with CNN on. I thought I heard there were blackouts in Detroit and that special forces were using the airport. Has anyone heard anything similar?

I understand that a trio of illegal aliens of Arabic descent were caught attempting to cross the Detroit River from Canada yesterday. They were using a small boat a la the legendary cigarette-smuggling Purple Gang of the depression era.

I just went to clickondetroit.com and read about 6 middle eastern guys being arrested after trying to enter from Canada illegally...the top story...and by the time I got back to the homepage the story was gone. Not even on the regular news page.

Six Men Arrested At Border

Agents Say Suspects Did Not Have Proper ID Posted: 9:57 a.m. EDT October 14, 2001

DETROIT-- Six men who allegedly attempted to enter the country illegally at the Canada border are expected to appear in court Sunday.

Border security agents arrested the men after a routine stop by the U.S. Coast Guard on the Detroit River this weekend. Additional details of the stop were not immediately available.

Sources tell Local 4 that the men did not have the proper documents that would have allowed them to enter the United States legally.
