why does it take so long to burn vcd

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

im trying to burn a movie, an .avi file, as a vcd. i've already split the file and everything, however when i burn it, it takes forever. each cd is suppose to hold around 350mb and it'll take over 6 hours to burn. i'm using nero. is it suppose to take this long?! any program, or any way for it to burn quicker?

It takes so long because Nero has to encode the AVI files you gave it to VCD-compliant MPEG before proceeding to author the VCD.

Try using VCD Cutter from: http://vcdcutter.yeah.net to convert your AVI's to MPEG. You may find that this speeds up the whole process for you.

If your ripping DVD's, try ripping them into VCD format, you will save yourself a lot of time from the outset.
